Argumentative Essay: Dogs Vs. Cats
Dogs are man’s best friend, but let’s pay attention to the underdog here. Or rather, the under-cat. The nation is in a debate about which is the best pet, dogs or cats. Dogs are great, however, here’s the reasons why cats are superior. Cats are independent animals and can be left unattended. Cats are not raucous, unlike dogs. Cats can align themselves upright. (or save themselves.) To begin with, the reason why cats are more desirable is: cats are independent and can be left unaided. Alex Libber’s article from December 10th, 2014 on petplace.com states,”But because a cat is more independent, they can be left alone for longer periods of time. Although a cat will miss you, she doesn’t depend on you to be home right at 5 p.m. for a walk. If you go for longer periods, your cat will do well with a house sitter, but she can also get by without someone feeding and checking up on her twice a day.” This shows cats are independent creatures and can be left home alone. Clearly, cats are perfectly well off being home alone, while dogs are not. Dogs need you or a house sitter to feed, walk, and take care of them. …show more content…
Krista-mangwakre from ThePersecpective.com states, “Unlike dogs that will always vocalize with their mood with loud barks or endless whining, cats will keep their mood to themselves. Even when cats do whine, their meows or hisses are barely audible from another room, let alone from the neighbor’s house. An added benefit of your cat’s low-decibels purring is that it’s been shown to reduce stress and blood pressure, among other things.” This means cat-owners have peace and quiet. Obviously, having some downtime is important. However, dog-owners would have to deal with the barking and whining. This results in cat-owners not being stressed out also, not having to deal with the noise.Unlike dog-owners. As you can see, cats are not as loud as

“Wolves are the dogs that stayed behind.” The world is a cruel place. A thing that can be treasured in one instance can be a threat in the next. For many people, we stare at the natural world and see its rugged beauty and wish that we could captivate it for ourselves. The case is no different for our modern dogs. Bred from the “empty canvas” of a wolf, we’ve modified, altered, formed, transformed, reformed, and remodified wolves to be one of the closest companions we have still today: dogs. But through all of our perfecting and reshaping that we’ve done to our best friends’ closest ancestors, wolves have prevailed, echoing their famous legacy still throughout the world. Wolves, now in danger of extinction, are one of the greatest controversies…

There's a reason cats aren't called man's best friend – and it's all in their genes, according to a new study. Cats are simply not as domesticated as dogs despite sharing households with humans for at least 9,000 years, researchers at the Washington University School of Medicine have found. The reason is because they have been able to retain their hunting skills and ability to see well during the night-time. Cats were first domesticated in the Near East about 10,000 years ago. The modern domestic cat is descended from a wild ancestor called Felis silvestris lybica. All 600 million house cats in the world have been traced back to five females of this species. They lived in the forests before they moved into villages. Ancient Egyptians worshipped…

For the years that we have been living we all have come to realize that dogs are more trainable than cats. Canines have been trained to care for their owners, fetch news papers and some are trained as watch dogs for the blind. Others are close in social status to a Deputy – sometimes referred to as Deputy Dogs. This is pretty remarkable to think that we have dogs that are capable of recognizing and, attacking criminals, identifying drugs and placing criminals under arrest. In most cases we have dogs that are trained to be remarkable house dogs. Dogs have been trained over the years to perform entertaining tricks such as, roll over, fetch, shake hand and even play dead. There are many dogs which have developed bad habits. Special attention and training programs have been developed to assist dogs in shaking these bad habits. These bad habits include, biting, chewing on furniture and rugs, digging holes, barking consistently without apparent reason and most of all, house soiling. Cats on the other hand belong to the feline family and are not as trainable as dogs. There is just a significant limit to their training. Yes they are able to be home trained - to prevent house soiling, but to prevent them from damaging your furniture with their claws, you basically have to clip the claws. When cats are kept as pets, they become attached to their human…

There is a great deal of controversy concerning wolf dogs. While one group advocates the cross-breeding of dogs and wolves, another large portion of the population continues to be concerned over the breeding of wild, undomesticated animals for the purpose of producing pets suitable for close relationships with people. I readily admit that I have great temptation of the ownership of a wolf dog but am concerned of people not fully educated and experienced in wild animal behaviour, and the complicated relationship with humans. My concern is not only for the two-legged community within which the animal is expected to exist, but also with the quality of life for an animal more suited to the wild.…
