Cause and effect Everyone makes choices in their lives that can affect them until the day that they die, not all choices affect people in positive ways though. More than 3,200 kids younger than the age of 18 use cigarettes for the first time, which means 3,200 minors, decide to make that choice and take the risk of becoming addicted to nicotine before the age of 18. Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States and with knowing that; so many people in the U.S still take the risk of smoking a cigarette each and every day. The nicotine in a cigarette gets into the brain which causes brain neurons to create dopamine that gives the brain a feeling of pleasure which can create an addiction. By regularly smoking cigarettes the body can start to experience health problems, it can affect your children and others around you and it can most definitely change your looks in ways that you never even thought was possible Smoking causes more deaths than motor vehicle injuries, alcohol use, Illegal drug use, HIV and firearm-related incidents combined. Smoking harms nearly every organ in the human body and causes 90% of all lung cancer deaths in the United States. Smokers are also at a greater risk of developing diseases that affect the blood vessels and the heart which is also related to cardiovascular disease. Smoking can even cause cancer almost anywhere in the human body from kidney and ureter cancer to cervix cancer. Smoking causes an estimated 480,000 deaths per year in the United States alone which is about 1 and 5 deaths. Smoking doesn’t only just affect you and your body but it also affects the others around you. Breathing in second hand smoke over time can cause numerous amounts of health problems for the non-smokers around you.
