World War Two started on September 1st, 1939 when Germany invaded Poland. It involved the vast majority of the world’s nations. The allies were made up of England, France, The United States, and The Soviet Union. The Axis members included Germany, Italy, and Japan. Although, there were many causes of World War Two, the three main causes were Hitler, the Treaty of Versailles, and the failure of the League of Nations. Hitler was the main cause of World War Two. In January 1933 Hitler became Chancellor of Germany. The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that ended World War One. The concept of The Treaty was to prevent Germany from starting more wars. The treaty assigned guilt to Germany and made them pay for damages caused by WWI. Article 231 states “The Allied and Associated Governments affirm and Germany accepts the responsibility of Germany and her allies for causing all the loss and damage to which the Allied and Associated Governments and their nationals have been subjected as a consequence of the war imposed upon them by the aggression of Germany and her allies.” Also, the treaty took away some of Germany’s land and reduced the size of their military. Article 159 states “The German military forces shall be demobilised and reduced as prescribed hereinafter.” Article 160 states “The German Army must not comprise more than seven divisions of infantry and three divisions of cavalry.
