My First Kiss It's hard to believe, but my first kiss was on a bus on the way back from school. And who knows? With my best friend! Can you believe it? So that was cool. Neither I nor she knew exactly what “the kiss“ was. Only movies.
We were inexperienced on this subject, and scared to death. But we learned. And so... I do not know if it was from a Biology class or Chemistry but Lais had sent me one of her thousands of little notes: ”You are my glucose metabolism.” Love you so much! Lulu.
She had signed with small letters, Lulu. Lulu was her nickname. Signed in small letters so tiny, I almost had pity, male instinct, kid stuff... And also though I do not know why, I decided to give her a chance, even without knowing what kind of thing would happen. The next day, after English, Lulu asked me to escort her home. On the bus, she came up with the following conversation: “A kiss can leave us exhausted, you know?” And I was silent. But she continued: “Depending on the kiss, we put into action 29 muscles, consumes about 12 calories and speeds up the heart to 70 to 150 beats per minute.” Then she took courage and took my hand. But she kept talking: “We also spend in the saliva, no less than 9 mg water, 0.7 mg of albumin, 0.18 grams of organic substances, materials greases 0,711 mg, 0.45 mg salts and at least 250 bacteria...” Then she came face to face with mine and, trembling, took off her glasses, took mine and we were looking at each other, up close. Enough for me to find out that without her glasses, her eyes were beautiful and expressive, bright blue. She kissed the tip of my nose; I closed my eyes and felt her panting. Her lips touched mine. First lightly, then harder, and then our mouths glued for a few

She smiled and I took her hand. I took her hand, and we started dancing. The Radical Reconstruction had a large amount of impacts on the emancipated blacks and the south. The blacks were freed but were still subjected to racism, hate, and inequality. The radical republicans tried their best to fight for the rights of the freedmen, but at the end of the Reconstruction, the freedmen were still treated unfairly. An advantage of the Reconstruction is that it restored the United states into one union. Therefore, there were both advantages and disadvantages to the Reconstruction.…

I just sat there for 15 minutes spacing out until she slapped me in the face and walked away, at that moment I knew she liked me. The next day I told all my friends, they all said the same thing “It was just a coincidence”, I thought otherwise. The next morning I walked up to her and asked her how her day was. She responded with “Good” while yawning. I could tell she had a rough time falling asleep last night. Almost like a weight was on top of her the entire night. I took her to the movies that night and we watched ‘Minions”. The movie was 1 hour and 47 minutes, after the movie we went to ‘Potbelly’s’ on a romantic date. After that we headed to my house, things were starting to get serious. I walked up into my room and found her already lying on the bed, she was in a short red nightgown. We start talking and she tells me how romantic the movie and the dinner was. We laid down in bed together and watched cartoons for a while until we both…

In “A Decade,” a poem by Amy Lowell, the reader is shown how a lover’s attitude can go from infatuation at first to just predictability and love. In this poem Lowell uses imagery and similes to elaborate on the feelings of the speaker towards his/her lover. In the beginning of the relationship the speaker is infatuated with the lover, and Lowell expresses this infatuation through the use of a simile in line one when comparing the lover to “red wine and honey”. As the relationship goes on deeper into the decade a comparison between the lover and “morning bread” is made in line three, showing the reader that instead of being like “red wine and honey” in the beginning, which burnt the speaker’s mouth with sweetness, now the lover is perceived as being “smooth and pleasant”.…

In “Extra large, Please,” Alice M. Davies focuses on the increase of obesity with children, which schools are provoking. There are many various social problems in kids of America today ranging from poverty to drug abuse. One alarming factor that is rapidly exploding is childhood obesity. Alice Davies’ article, “‘Extra Large,’ Please,” which describe the alarming social problem of childhood obesity connected to the fast food industry in America today. Davies stated: “the number of American kids who are dangerously overweight has tripled. More than 16 percent of our children qualify as ‘obese’” (Davies). Although childhood obesity is a growing problem stemming from a terrible diet and lack of exercise, we can take action now to avoid further detriment towards their future health. The first cause of childhood obesity is the lack of inactivity. Many schools are not required to have any physical education. Unfortunately, Davies’ states: “Many of those schools are so short of money they’ve scrapped physical-fitness classes” and “too few communities have athletic programs in place.” It is terrible that schools have a hand in this growing epidemic. Also, Spurlock’s Supersize Me documentary shows that “schools are cutting out recess to study for testing and only one state requires physical-fitness classes.” It is terrible that most of these children taking exams are obese. In addition, they live in a dangerous neighborhood where they can’t go out and play because drug activity and violent crime may make playing outside dangerous. Communities should take part in making the neighborhood a safe haven for kids to play outside. The second cause of childhood obesity is poor eating habits. Children will rather eat candy instead of focusing on the products that are good for the body. Parents play a major role when it comes to allowing or giving their child food that will damage the body more less providing nutrients. Children need to leave the junk food behind…
