Cell phones at Sherwood Middle School Students at Sherwood Middle School Believe that the cellphone policy is too strict. Some students say that they should be able to use their phones more in class. There are lots of problems that can come with having your cellphones in class, staff worry that students will use their phones in inappropriate ways. If students want to have more freedom they will need to use their phones more appropriately in class and all around the school. Is the cell phone rule too strict for students and staff? They say that to be able to use phone students need to learn how to use them appropriately. One of the main reasons for this rule is cheating on tests. Staff worries that if students have access to their phones during tests they will use them to their advantage, this is also why some teachers do not allow students to listen to music during a test. Students may also take advantage of these situations and go on social media, text friends, and use their phone inappropriately. Students can also get distracted if they are on their phones during a lesson. They could text a friend and if they reply back the phone could make a noise or it could vibrate and not only distract the student who's phone it is, but the whole class. Teachers say that if students want to be able to use their phones more they need to learn how to use their phones appropriately and responsibly. There can be lots of problems with phones at school but if students use them responsibly there will be little to no problems at all.
