The first chakra is known as the root chakra. It is found at the base of the spine. This chakra is associated with safety and security issues; it represents our foundation and feeling of being grounded (“The 7 Chakras for Beginners,” 2009.) Furthermore, the root chakra is connected energetically to some organs of the reproductive system, hip joints, lower back, and pelvic area. Some health issues that are believed to correspond with disturbances of the root chakra include lower-back pain, sciatica, rectal difficulties, and some cancers (Seaward, 2012, p. 73.) Some of the emotional issues tied to the root chakra include survival issues such as financial independence, money, and food (“The 7 Chakras for Beginners,” 2009.) This chakra is known as the seat of the Kundalini energy, a spiritually based concept that is yet to be understood in Western culture (Seaward, 2012, p. 73.) If the Western Culture were to accept the root chakra, it would promote a deep, personal relationship with Earth and nature. When one is rooted in life, they are filled with satisfaction, stability and inner strength (“The Human Chakra System,” 2009.)…

Yoga started out on the edges of American life, the province of poets, seekers, dreamers, drifters, bohemians. It has journeyed to the center of things, to our neighborhoods, our gyms, our schools. Now, with the practice settled into the mainstream, it's fitting that we have two new histories of yoga in America that seek to understand how and why so many of us ended up here, blissed out in cobbler's pose. Reading these books, I wonder whether the secret of yoga's lasting allure is maybe more obvious, and more down to earth, than we devoted practitioners might like to admit. From the very start, the American reception of yoga was a blend of rhapsodic spiritualism and harder-nosed skepticism.…

Due to its inactivity, it remains dormant. Its insinuation and the resulting consequential implications in all the spheres of our human life are extraordinary. The seekers of Kundalini powers consistently trust that they can activate that power for their personal spiritual and material gains. It is an exceptional inner Power, which has the capacity to rule the universe. It carries Infinite Intellect to reach beyond everything that we simply cannot imagine, and as of now, we are simply a tiny speck of it. The procedure developed through the rich, multilevel spiritual and energetic systems of purification, and the Prana (Spiritual Awareness) generating techniques by activating the Kundalini will generate the cosmic energy, along with the esoteric wisdom, by activating an organic evolutionary method, and Kundalini will begin to have an unimaginable power and presence. It will conclusively and decisively control the entire human thoughts and activities. The entire atmosphere and the space on this earth will get saturated with the notion that the human body happens to be the pilgrimage on its way to the Divine Shrine of an ultimate God-Consciousness (Pond & Holland, 2010). Nambiar (1967) observed the fifth section of Whitman’s ‘Song of Myself,’ signifying this mystical event, suggesting a similar pattern of colors he experienced when the Kundalini arose, and that was like Whitman’s best occurrence similar to what Sri Ramakrishna, the Bengali saint…

Chakra means, “Wheel of light” in Sanskrit. Chakras are invisible centers of spinning energy that run along our spine. There are seven major Chakras along the spine, and they concentrate and coordinate the flow of life force in and out of the body. This life force is the electromagnetic force field that surrounds all living things. If the chakras are not balanced, or if the energies are blocked, the basic life force will be slowed down. The individual may feel listless, tired, despondent, or depressed. Not only will physical bodily functions be affected so diseases may manifest, but the thought processes and the mind may also be affected. A negative attitude, pessimism, fear, doubt, etc. may preoccupy the individual. You can rectify these things by balancing your chakras. A constant balance between the chakras promotes health and a sense of well being. Each chakra has a name, symbol, location, color, tone, element, and sense associated with it distinct from the other chakras.…
