Change In Schindler's List
In the movie Schindler’s List we see the story of Oskar Schindler play out and the great deeds he did to save the lives of many Jewish people and because of this I would say the central theme to Schindler’s List is the great amount of change any one person can make, and this reminds us as a religion class that we too can make meaningful change no matter what. I would say this is the central theme of Schindler’s List because firstly he faced much opposition in his actions and didn’t received much help from others other than the people he was saving and his wife, secondly the actual amount of change and people he saved from certain death and finally how Oskar Schindler risked everything he had to save the lives of these Jewish people. Firstly …show more content…
Without the actions of Oskar Schindler these 15,000 descendants and 1500 Schindlerjuden would be nothing but a part of the countless 6 Million Jewish people who were murder in Holocaust. This shows the magnitude of change one person can have, and this tells us in our religion class the importance fighting for what you believe in because you can accomplish great things. Finally I would say this is the theme of Schindler’s List because of how much Schindler put on the line to accomplish the things he did. Before the Holocaust and World War 2 Schindler was a very successful Businessman with millions of dollars to his name. But the things he was doing during the Holocaust was not “good business” as he tried to convince Amon Goeth, they cost him everything he owned. He kept bribing Nazi officials for more Jewish Workers and the more he had the more he had to accommodate for and he kept the able and unable workers too which slowed down production. Also He never produced a single working shell and said he didn’t want to, as we infer was because he didn’t want to contribute to the war

The Holocaust was a traumatizing and depressing time period in history due to the Nazis in the leadership of their dictator Adolf Hitler. The Nazis were a Political Party during World War ΙΙ from 1941 through 1945. Many Jews during this time were discriminated, murdered, and humiliated in front of many other Jews and Germans. “Six million Jews died in a merciless way at the hands of the Nazis” (Sherbok 1). The Holocaust is an unforgettable period in history that left a scar on many Jews including Vladek. Vladek was a Jew and a survivor of the Holocaust that experienced and witnessed several tragedies during this time. The war was over when his son Art Spiegelman is willing to write a book about the Holocaust. He asked his father Vladek if he could help him write his book by telling him his story and experiences during this time, Vladek agrees. Due to the Holocaust and unforgettable experiences Vladek went through, his life was never the same, he changed a lot in the manner of being more careful with money and resourceful with the things he had. Vladek also became very strict with his son Art Spiegelman and had a very strong character this is reasonable because as a young man he went through a crisis by going to the war at a young age, lost his wife and first son. The Holocaust definitely changed his style of living and his personality that led to a lot of consequences.…

The Schindler’s List is Steven Spielberg’s award-winning film which illustrates the profoundly nightmarish Holocaust. It recreates a dark, frightening period during World War II, when Nazi-occupied Kraków first dispossessed Jews of their businesses and homes, then forced them into ghettos and labor camps in Plaszów and finally resettled in concentration camps for execution. It is quite terrifying to think how far the Nazis were able to go with their murderous ideology. Which is the primary component of what makes the novel and film so nerve-wracking. It is difficult to imagine how an entire group that were so dehumanized by another group of people and were killed as if they were nothing but ‘bodies’ without minds or emotions. The film opens up with a close up of hands lighting a pair of Shabbat (Sabbath) candles, followed by the sound of a Hebrew prayer blessing the candles it sounds similar to the call to prayer for Muslims minus the embellished throaty notes. One of the only color scenes in the film, it quickly fades to black and white and brings us to our setting for the majority of the film. It is 1939 at the…

Schindler is mainly known for saving Jews by employing them in his factory; however, he used many more strategies to do so. Schindler would make the Nazi officers who would inspect his factory drunk, so they would not see all of Schindler’s workers fumbling while they work. He also made a list, “Schindler’s List”, of people he would buy from concentration camps to work at his factory. This list included his former workers as well as a number of others. When Schindler and Emilie brought new workers into the factory, they nursed them until they were healthy again. Schindler maintained a special relationship with his workers, so they were called “Schindlerjuden” (Schindler Jews). By the end of the war, Schindler was penniless; he had spent all of his money to protect his workers. All of these contributions that Oskar Schindler made has a great effect on American history. Schindler not only saved people’s lives, but he also showed people to use what you have for the benefit of others. Many people look up to Schindler for his sacrifices and his contribution to the end of World War II and the freedom of hundreds of Jewish…

To more than 1200 Jews Oscar Schindler was all that stood between them and death at the hands of the Nazis.” (Louis Bülow 1) Before he was saving Jews he had a job of war profiteering. After he saw how many innocent lives were being taken by the Nazi’s he saw how valuable those lives are and promised to save them.
