Chapter 3 Promoting Children's Art

After reading chapter 3, Promoting Children’s Art, I would begin by explaining to my friend that all children are artistic and talented in their own unique way. I would also tell her that she should observe her child’s artwork that he/she does at home and artwork that is done at school. As explained in the book on page 41, children who are gifted will show great detail in their artwork that children their age would not pay attention to. Students that are artistic and talented go deep into thought with their artwork. Not only do the show the interest in art with their drawings, they will talk about their interest in particular topics not common to those of their peers. Another way to tell if her child is artistic and talented is to talk with
her child and show interest in the work that he/she has created. She should ask question as a teacher would about the artwork, such as I would also suggest that she pay attention to items that her child requests to buy when at the store and buy her child different art supplies. It would also be go to take her child to the library and see what books he/she is interested in as well and allow her opportunities to explore with different technology devices.
