The main issue that Lesig tries to bring forth is the idea that campaign finance makes politics less ethical. Especially with new campaign finance laws, Lesig believes that the American people are losing their connection with their elected officials, and on longer have any influence in government. It is a pattern were corruption is able to happen, and maybe even thrive without individuals becoming implicated, either criminally, morally, or ethically. Again Lesig focuses on the system, instead of the individual. Lesig describes this a pathology, as if it was an illness that is entrenched in society. Lesig believes that it would be hard for anyone to turn away from the corruption because it is so common that it may be seen as normal. This was made clear when Lesig gives the example about the king and a legislator, because many are taking favors from the king, and the king is helping the young legislator with expensive gifts, that the legialture believe that he cannot live without the legislator becomes complacent in the corruption.
