In comparing The Grimm Brother’s “Little Red Cap” and Sharon Singer’s paintings of the infamous little red riding hood story, there are numerous similarities to be found. Singer’s painting “Fast Food”, depicts a dark and uncanny scene in which naked doll lies at the foot of bloody wolf paws. The naked doll in Singer’s bleak painting represents the vulnerability of Little Red Cap during her encounters with the wolf. Little Red Cap description as a “dear little girl” who was loved by anyone who “set eyes on her” works into Little Red Cap’s childish aurora connected by Singer’s naked doll (Tatar 13). The Grimm Brothers explain Little Red Cap “had no idea what a wicked beast [the wolf] was” during their first meeting, which characterizes Little Red Cap as a helpless and harmless young girl, with no knowledge of the dangers of society, such as a child (Tatar 14). Therefore, assessing Little Red Cap defenseless and innocent nature, there is a connection portrayed through the unclothed doll that lies at the foot of the wolf. In the painting from Singer, the wolf’s bloody paws are also seen under a red cloth, which can be concluded as two things from the story. One, the red cloth is Little Red Cap’s…
Holden Caulfield’s red hunting cap is a symbol for his individuality. Caulfield only wears his hat when he “d[oes]n't give a damn how [he] look[s]” and when he knows “[he] wouldn’t meet anybody that kn[ows] [him]” (88, 122). Caulfield is insecure about himself--this is demonstrated by his inability to connect well with others--and his “corny” hat is one of his insecurities (18). Despite how insecure he is about his individuality--and subsequently his hat--he still keeps it close by. Most of time, the hat is in Caulfield’s “pocket” (53). When Phoebe “put [the hunting hat] on [his] head,” she is telling Caulfield that she accepts him as an individual--quirky hat and all (212).…
In the book Tangerine, how did Erik Fisher’s choice have an effect on Paul? Was it good for Paul? Well, for the second question the answer would be no. Erik’s choices impact Paul by Paul despising Erik, Paul feeling ignored by his parents, and Paul not able to have his friends over.…
After the sinkhole, Lake Windsor Middle School students got the choice to either learn in the gym for the time being or transferred to Tangerine Middle School. His choice can be harmless or harmful. Paul, took the opportunity to switch. But, the only way he got on Tangerine’s soccer team is because Paul’s mother, Mrs. Fisher got rid of the IEP form from his Cume Folder. Paul befriended the Tangerine Middle school teammates by joining the Tangerine Soccer team. This shows about his character by the way he “ratted” the Tangerine soccer players and then went to their school to play on their team. The consequences of this choice are that if the Tangerine soccer players figure out that it was Paul who ratted out the soccer players from the carnival…
Hattie Owens is a very determined girl. A good portrayal of this characteristic is when Hattie tries to get Adam out of his house so that he con go to the carnival with her instead of being shut up in his room while his parents are having a social gathering. This is a good example because Hattie really wanted Adam to escape because she felt bad for him and wanted to take him out on an adventure! Another scene where this characteristic is shown is when Hattie “stuck up” for Adam so that he could go be ‘normal’ for a few hours. Therefore we see Hattie become a determined, strong willed young lady. Some textual evidence for this characteristic is on page 1 and the book says, “I’m not about so spend the morning in bed…”…
In the memoir The Glass Castle, the Walls family faces many discriminations from the outside world due to their life in poverty. The one who is most impacted by this is Jeanette. During this time, Jeanette is in the fifth grade, and is being treated differently from the other kids due to her life in poverty. After lunch time, the grade goes outside, and this is the perfect opportunity for kids to pick on others. Jeanette is targeted by a group of girls who don’t see eye to eye. After they completely surrounded Jeanette, after a disagreement and the first punch thrown, the girl had seen that Jeanette had no buttons on her coat. After the girl said, “This girl ain’t got no buttons on her coat!”(p.139), she felt obligated to persist in the one-sided…
Although she is a queen, she is still muchly hated around her kingdom and even the White Kingdom. Yet both however, were very successful in their own ways. The Red Queen embraced her differences and turned them into a plus by making those unique qualities that are typical considered frowned upon, into qualities that are unique and beautiful. This showed to the viewer when Alice was infiltrating the Red Kingdom and she ate the cake that made her grow, and then the Red Queen accepted her solely because of her extra-large head. The Mad Hatter was an old psychopath who couldn’t fit in anywhere, but he figured out the only way to embrace his differences and used his talent of making hats to actually fit in. Burton tends to portray this common theme in a majority of his…
Robert faces innocence, which was a huge factor that affected him where his sister, Rowena Ross was born with a deadly disease called hydrocephalus, in which fluids accumulates in the brain, enlarging the head and potentially causing brain damage especially to younger children. This results in Rowena passing way when she falls out of her wheelchair, where Robert was told to watch her, but was instead, “making love to his pillow” (Findley 15). This results in Robert wanting to enlist to war to escape from the pain and guilt because he was the sole reason of the death of his sister and he shouldn’t have left her sight. It is clear that Robert is hiding his feelings and wants to keep his private emotions to himself away from others around him.…

The characters in “Stand and Deliver” went through a great deal in this movie and all brought something else to the movie. The star of the movie is Jaime Escalante played by Edward James Olmos. Escalante is the teacher of the students that quits his job with a computer company to teach at Garfield High School. He comes to teach computer science, but the school did not get the computers and he has to teach math. He takes over the math class and expects a great deal of his students and challenges the faculty to allow him to teach Mr. Escalante encounters some opposition to teaching calculus from Mr. Molina, the principal and Raquel Ortega, a teacher. Mr. Molina is the principal of Garfield High School played by Carmen Argenziano. Mr. Molina laughs at Mr. Escalante’s idea of teaching calculus, but he supports him when the program gets under way. Raquel Ortega, played by Virginia Paris, is not as helpful as Mr. Molina and she doubts the abilities of the students many different times throughout the movie.…
I believe in judging someone by their actions and character rather than by the color of their skin and sexuality. This I believe because there is good and bad in all of us. The color of our skin does not depict the flaws we have. In the second amendment it states that all men are created equal, but we still do not treat each other equally. Defending Tom Robinson was not easy because I knew that from the minute Mayella opened her mouth Tom was a dead man. But everyone including a black man deserves a second chance. How could I ever tell my own children “You never really understand a person until you consider things from their point of view - until you climb into his skin and walk around in it” if I didn’t pick up Tom’s case because I was afraid of what people would think of me. When people say things about me like “Atticus Finch is the same in his house as he is on the public streets” why would I prove them wrong? You are only as good as you portray yourself to be. But when you are a black man in the town of Maycomb, Alabama you were never dealt the good hand to begin with. Sadly Tom never got a second chance. Tom was a good man but because of the color of his skin he was not treated as fairly as the rest of us.…

Mr. Neck has gray hair that is cut into a sort of buzzcut style. He always has a whistle around his neck and is very strict. Mr. Neck seems like a stereotypical high school coach who shouts a lot and is buff. He also seems to have something against Melanie from the start.…
