The actor Clint Bolster brings the classic commedia character ill dottore to life through characterisation, movement and voice work. Clint used movement by imitating Ill dottore's classic confident stance of chest and stomach pushed out and feet close together. Through the use of body gestures, in particular using his index finger to accentuate phrases of importance, Clint demonstrated Ill Dottore's know it all quality and want for attention. When walking around the stage Clint utilized every step, being sure to incorporate Ill Dottore's strong, quick and sporadic walking style. An integral part of bringing Ill Dottore to life lay in his voice. Clint ensured he spoke loudly and expressively as Ill Dottore's is desperate to share his knowledge and have his intelligence noticed. Clint ensured he spoke fast to convey the urgent need felt by ill Dottore to share his knowledge as the character of ill dottore never stops speaking, claiming to know everything about everything.

The style of Commedia is characterized by its use of masks, improvisation, physical comedy, and Burle. The art of improvisation was used throughout the performance. An example of improvisation within scene 1 is the nicknames given to audience members by Ill Dottore based on their appearance e.g. dead possum, Ipswich, swine flu. Another example of improvisation is when Ill Dottore yelled "the Germans are coming" at the unanticipated ringing of the school bell.
