Catalina Island is a beautiful island getaway with tons of fun activities to do. Though it is only 22 miles long, it is still extremely rich in history, and extremely rich in beauty. Filled with crystal blue waters filled with fish, and very little developed land filled with tons of animals, the island is the perfect place for a fun filled, beautiful getaway into nature. On the island, is a camp named Emerald Bay Mountain Sea Adventures. This camp has generous accommodations, pleasing food, and many fun activities.
To get to the camp, you must take an amazing 2 hour long boat ride, which consists of delicious food, plenty of places to sit or lay down while enjoying the gentle rocking of the boat. When you arrive, after orientation, the counselors
will lead you to your cabins. The accommodations in each cabin include bunk beds with tons of storage. Each cabin has a lovely view of its own, some including a stunning view of the ocean. Each bunk has a comfortable mattress, and on the head of each bunk, there is a large storage unit for bags and supplies. More storage is located in a bookshelf cabinet. The bathrooms are located close to the cabins, but not directly connected to them. In the bathrooms are also enjoyable outdoor showers, with warm water and a drought friendly knob.
The camp also has a great kitchen and friendly staff. The food is delicious, and comes with varied sides, coming out for a delicious and balanced meal. Each meal is toiled over thoughtfully, made with great care, and serving sizes help make sure your meal is balanced, and that everybody there gets enough to eat. At lunch and dinner, a healthy salad bar is available, and at breakfast, there is a yogurt, granola, and fruit bar. To keep the kitchen allergy friendly, the entire kitchen is nut-free. Also available is a delicious nut-free trail mix, made with banana chips, dried cranberries, and sunflower seeds, which is available at any time to take with you on a hike, or whenever you are hungry before a meal.
There is also many activities at Camp Emerald Bay. Each activity is in a fun, safe environment, either outside or in a classroom. Some of the activities include, kayaking, snorkelling, taking a hike, and much more. My personal favorite would be the kayaking. Before entering the waters, you take a lab to learn about some of the birds that you might see while kayaking. While kayaking, you get to enter deeper waters, while leisurely paddling around the bay, and enjoying the crystal blue waters stretched out around you. Did you accidentally fall into the water?
