Tally loves to have fun like any other young adult almost facing a “real” life, I also love to have fun and we do it in similar ways. Tally when hoverboarding gets a somewhat adrenaline rush which allows her to still hoverboard in different conditions, in one situation Tally was hoverboarding through a forest with multiple branches blocking and violently slashing at her face and arms slowing down he adventures and being a symbol throughout the book. Everytime I go to place with a “scary” rollercoaster or an a waterslide which reaches way high up in the air, I get extremely terrified and I grow a wall of thoughts that will flood my mind of thoughts that usually have me end dead. This is unlike Tally but she does have some hesitation when Shay …show more content…
Both me and Tally have a lot of hesitation when doing things out of our comfort circle, but our friends push us to the limit allowing us to have the time of our lives.

In the book uglies there are multiple unique characters with various characteristics which portray them from one to the other, I feel that Tally is most similar to me in traits and characteristics. One of Tally’s fears that I also have in common with her is the fear of being alone, I despise the fact of being alone I feel so lonely so powerless. Most of my memorable times in my life is usually with friends and or family, this also applies to Tally, In the book most of her most memorable moments that stayed with her through the story was with a good friend might be her best friend: Shay. On a psychological level, we see the main character, Janie Crawford, grow through four of the five stages of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Personal Development (depending on which version you read). Janie starts out in survival mode, or at least Nannie, her guardian- grandmother, is on that level since she is the one who makes major personal and financial sacrifices in order to make Janie’s life better than hers or Leafy's, Janie’s absent mother’s was. But even though life is pretty good for Janie, she has no sense of who she is. When she begins to tell her story, her first memory is having no personal identity (no stable name), no social identity (she is rejected by her Black peers for living in the White folks’ back yard), no family identity (she does not know her mother or her father), and no racial identity (she is startled to learn that she is Black). Because she is moving zombie-like through her life, Janie gives all her power away, first to her grandmother who forces her to marry at age sixteen, an older man, Logan Killicks, whom she barely knows and to whom she is not the least bit attracted, then later to her second husband, Joe Starks.…

In other words, she sees the looks teachers give her, and it inspires her to do better in her school work and prove to them that her image does not define her personality. Her mother tries to get her to act like the rich kid she is, but the more her mother tries, the more she rejects the idea and rebels. She wears black and dyes her hair unnatural colors to hide where she really comes from, a rich family. She also hides her love for playing piano because she does not want to be classified as a rich kid, but doing so gets classified as a punk or a goth. Antonia, the other main character, is classified as smart or a teacher’s pet, so a teacher’s pet and a punk; that is not usually the types that are best friends. Mr. Lederer and Mr. Burdick wrote the Ugly American many decades ago and it is a story that holds many truths of how we act and operate in today’s society. This fictional work displayed characters that truly understood many of the Special Operation Forces (SOF) imperatives. Louis Krupitzyn, John Colvin and Major Wolchek represented the SOF imperatives of understanding the operational environment, anticipating and controlling psychological effects, operating with and through others, considering the long term effects, facilitating interagency activities, and engaging the threat discriminately. I will combine my own experiences and those of these three characters in The Ugly American. I will demonstrate how the SOF imperatives influenced their behavior and how I approached situations during my time in Special Forces.…

I have four friends that I affectionately call “my bridesmaids.” They are great listeners and learners. But they know exactly when enough is enough. These girls know when it is time for them to talk or question my choices. Or even question my state-of-mind. I feel quite sure, for better or worse, nothing will be left off the table with these ladies. And if I ever feel judged, it’s my fault. Everything that we speak to one another is out of love.…

This captivation with herself along with the constant looking in the mirrors and thinking her mother was only pestering her all the time because her mother’s own good looks were long gone by now (323) shows a sign of immaturity because she believes everything revolves around whether or not someone is beautiful. Connie had two sides to her, which is most personified in her clothing and the way she makes it look one way at home and a different way when she is out (324).…

Imagine a person who is supportive as a family member and a unique friend that would be there for you at the drop of a hat. My Uncle Matt fits the description perfectly by being an adventurous kid stuck in an adult’s body, without this person in my life I wouldn’t be who I am today. He is a muscular middle-aged man who wore old, broken Harry Potter style glasses. I would always make fun of him by the way he dressed with an old t-shirt from some random event and jean shorts. Matt wouldn’t care about what people thought about him because they would never confront him about it because of how he stood like a statue. He was a very wise man who told me, “ Don’t live your life around what people think about you”. I thought of him as a wise monk instead of just my uncle.…
