Charlie Evan Biography
Charles Evan was born in Los Angeles, California on May 15, 1990 to Samuel and Diana Dalca.

Born in the lap of luxury, Charlie Dalca had more than any child could ask for. Since the day of his birth, he had been spoiled a greal deal and this only continued as he got older. There was only one thing Charlie truly craved, but couldn't have, and that was his parents attention. Sam and Diana were both highly sought after criminal lawyers and therefore much of their time was spent away from home, and away from Charlie himself. Charlie was left to be raised by various nannies, though it never bothered him too much. As he got older, he became accustomed to the idea of never having his parents around, mostly because it offered him a certain type of

He excelled in his studies, he was polite to others, he strayed from trouble and most of all, he did nothing that would hurt the family name. He could do anything he pleased, so long as he didn't step out of line.

It wasn't until high school that the need to be utterly perfect eventually began to weigh Charlie down. He found himself caring less about his parents approval and slowly his attention shifted more towards friends and partying. He was now sixteen and dating Sloan Cole (his best friends sister) and so he spent almost every waking moment with his girlfriend.

Things changed when, a year later, Sloan announced she was pregnant. Charlie knew this would not sit well with his parents, but he wanted Sloan and their child. When he refused to leave Sloan, Charlie was told he was no longer welcome at home.
On the day of his sons birth, Charlie was told that Sloan had left and would not be returning. Though heartbroken, Charlie decided to keep his son who he would later name Alexander. His refusal to adopt Alexander out was met with fury, and both Dalca parents thought it best Charlie and his son leave and go to Boston, where family would be waiting to take them

Charlie Wales tries to change his life but he is paying for what he has done in the past. He lost her daughter’s custody because his previous life and now he tries to win it back. The story of Charlie Wales is also a story of Fitzgerald and people who live in that time period. They are paying for their wasteful lives and irresponsible behavior. In the end, Wales says that “He wasn’t young any more, with a lot of nice thoughts and dreams to have by himself” (Fitzgerald 689). He has all these nice thoughts and imaginations of him living with her daughter happily, but all of these are not going to come true and he will live with these alone. His mistakes cannot be fixed and he is still paying for it. His failure of getting her daughter back is determined at the beginning of the story where he leaves Tom’s address for Duncan at the Ritz bar. When he almost gets his daughter back, his friends he used to get drunk with come to the guardian’s house and it reminds the guardians how he used to be (Fitzgerald 687). It is obvious that Charlie loves Honoria and that is the reason why he continually refuses the second drinks (Bryer 194). However, Bryer states that “His reluctance to accept his share of the blame for the destructive period in his past that placed Honoria in the custody of the Peterses, himself in a sanitarium and his wife, Helen, in an early grave, undercuts his…

In the beginning of the film, Charlie struggles with making friends in the first couple of days of his freshman year. Charlie adapts and interacts well with people and is able to make friends easily and quickly. Chbosky portrays this idea in the wide angle shot of the large crowd in the football game, when Charlie approached Patrick and says “Hey Patrick”. "Hey, you're in my shop class”, says Patrick. Eventually Charlie is told to sit next to him and they continue their friendly conversation and with time meets a girl named Sam. From then onwards they made good friends and was later introduced to more people. Chbosky highlights the fact that Charlie becomes easily able to seek a conversation with someone in front of a large crowd, from which then lead to an invitation to his first ever party. At the party Charlie became emotional after realising the fact that he was being noticed and appreciated by the group of his presence. Patrick raised his drink and asked everyone to do the same. “To Charlie” and the whole group said, “To Charlie". Chbosky shows in the wide shot angle of when Charlie was drinking his milkshake and sitting on a lower level than his two other friends, that he has become recognised by the group, being the centre of attention by being himself, he gains the trust of others and is told important secrets compared to his original life. Charlie demonstrates the benefits of being a wallflower…

But did Charlie feel as if he belonged to his family? I didn't think so. His mother acted as if she she just had to put up with them, because of her secret love life from afar with another man. She didn't think they were worthy of her presence, and if you read the book, you could see the dialogue in which the mother and father had intensive arguments about not talking to each other, the father drifting away and just locking himself in his room.…

Charlie is old enough to travel on his own, but he is not old enough to drink alcohol. It implies that he is in the late teenage years, probably about 17 years old. He has built up many expectations of his father, he sees him as his role model while it says, “I knew that when I was grown up, I would be something like him” (l. 11), and “I hoped that someone would see us together. I wished that we could be photographed. I wanted some record of our having been together.” (l.18).…
