Yet, I noticed one predicament throughout my experience there, the higher you go in management, the more people seem to dislike you. It began to take an immense toll on my self-esteem. Since I was and still am such a young manager, many of my co-workers, both my age and older, disrespected me and were very reluctant to follow my orders even though I had earned my rigorous position. She gave me the all true saying that you should “never hate the people who are envious of you but respect them because they are the reason you became a leader.” In turn, I decided if I could not make myself older, i would work hard to act older than i am, to make harder decisions, to accept failure and turn it into a success, to turn others jealously into a system of reliability on one another, and to create Chick-Fil-A in the image of what I could only hope for.
