Here is an excerpt from an interview with a child laborer.
Q. "What were your hours of labor, do you recollect, in that mill?"
A. "In the summer season we were very scarce of water."
Q. "But when you had sufficient water, how long did you work?"
A. "We began at 4 o'clock in the morning and worked till 10 or 11 at night; as long as we could stand upon our feet." Q. "You hardly could keep up for that length of time?"
A. "No, we often fell
