make it a mission to have our children and their children live better than us. And as the adults in this great nation, we can’t have our children to care about their health and over all wellbeing. We need to stand up and say something- everything must be done- to reverse this alarming cycle.
Nationally, there is a consensus that Americans must be the leaders and reverse the childhood obesity. We should always look to change the world because that is the thing that puts America on top. The United States already has the power and knowledge, the tools and room to do it. While we can’t turn this around overnight and we are aware of that, we do know that this does work. Experts agree that childhood obesity is not an incurable disease and a balanced diet, regular physical activity and education are the keys to this solution. We as the future can set our children on the right path towards a good health and exercise and just all around good health. We must take the incentive to get kids healthy and active. With the 21st century bringing new problems such as the television and computers adults need to reduce their time with these things. Experts say we must get them moving, through everyday activities, like taking a walk to the park or helping with work outside the home. Most importantly, we need to set an example for our kids- by eating healthy and getting active with them is also encouraged. No matter what we say, our children will take notice and act as we
do. I am not saying that these goals are not in any way easy for anyone person to do it alone- there are barriers, within families, schools and communities, to achieving these goals. It’s many support systems in someone’s life for them to stay on track and keep our children on track. Dr. Perrin stated in the article “parents should be talking with their children about their health everyday”. Your lives will be better being the unspoken promise that our parents made to us, that their parents made to them. We owe it to our children, to ensure that they live long good healthy lives, stronger, and fuller than us as well. Can we be the first generation in history that failed to deliver that promise? Our children are entitled to a healthy start- it’s our responsibility, now that is the question at stake here?
