Chimpanzees are located only in East Africa. They live in the Congo jungle, Tanzania and Uganda. They usually stay in the rainforest. Chimps have a lot of monkey business going on in the wild and it bring us to our attention. Even in East Africa chimps come in contact with a lot of diseases from living in Africa. Some monkeys carry Ebola, Herpes B, Monkeypox and SIV virus.
Chimpanzees can pick up germs just like humans, usually from the air or from touching infected items. Monkeypox is a virus that African rodents carry, such as squirrels, mice and porcupines. Chimpanzees and humans both share a DNA of 98.8%. They have a shorter lifespan than humans. In Africa, humans have an average lifespan of 50 while, chimps, also, have a lifespan of 50. Chimps and humans have similar traits that humans do. Chimpanzees arms are longer than its legs. The male chimpanzees stand about 3 to 4 feet tall and weighs between 90 and 115 pounds. Female chimpanzees stands about 2 to 3 and a half feet tall and weighs up between 57 and 110 pounds. The size of the chimpanzee's brain is about 282-500 cc. It is a lot smaller than the human brain which is about 1330 cc. Like humans, chimpanzees also hit puberty around eight to ten years old, same as humans, although some humans may hit puberty later in life. Chimpanzees are known to be stronger than human beings and are able to pull the same weight as a human being.
Chimpanzees live in groups of ten or more. Being in a group helps them protect each other from predators. As they live in their own groups, chimps do not like it when other groups invade their space and will cause territorial fights.
