Good afternoon, today I would like to share a book to all of you. I have read a book called “Chinese Cinderella”. This book is an autobiography of the Chinese Cinderella - Adeline Yen Mah. The book consists of photographs, historical notes on the state of Chinese society and politics during Adeline's childhood, and the legend of the original Chinese Cinderella. Western Cinderella was always in state of bliss as someone would help her when she was in need. But Adeline Yen Mah, the Chinese Cinderella was not as lucky. Their lives are totally different. She lives in a traditional family and treated as an unwanted daughter. From this book, we may know Adeline's miserable childhood. Adeline's mother died giving birth to her, her family considers that she is bad luck and she feels unwanted all her life. Her father throws away all her mother 's photographs, so she never knows what her real mother looked like. The same as the Western Cinderella, Adeline has a stepmother. She never tells anyone at school that she is an unloved child, but she is really lonely from her deepest heart. She studies very hard as she want to get attention from her dad, but she fail. Her father even forgets that he has a daughter called Adeline. Eventually Adeline's father sends her to a boarding school in Tianjin where she becomes the only child there. She becomes very lonely, but one day Adeline's sister comes and rescues her and takes her back to her family in Hong Kong. Here she is sent to another boarding school, this time with more pupils, but she is teased at this school and becomes sad because no one comes to visit her. She has been to many places, but these places are not her home and she was not being with her family. She is always alone and cannot feel any
