I had an incident with another member of staff. I had been working as a TA with a year 8 class, the RE teacher i was working with used to have a laugh and joke with them and would then abruptly tell them " right stop now we need to get on with our work". They were a lower set class with many statemented pupils, who got confused and upset as to why they could laugh and joke about but then get told off, they couldnt instantly switch to work mode.…

The Stevenson High Choral Guild is the parent group for the three choirs at Adlai E Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, IL. The executive board is made up of nine members; the co-presidents, vice president, co-secretaries, co-treasurers and the two teachers. I observed one of their monthly meetings. There was a lot to discuss at this meeting including the upcoming trip to New York City and changes to the organizations bylaws.…
My child ends up coming down the tunnel slide, crying his eyes out....and through his tears, he told me the younger child had hit him with the belt, 5 Times, on his head. One of the two women (I assume the child with the belt, was with Grandma, and Mom), came into the playground, and took the belt away, but she still let the child continue to play. My son and I left the playground, and I went to find a manager to say what had just happened, before we left the restaurant. I assumed they would like to know, that a child was running around with a belt, hitting other children, in the playground. A male manager came over to me (I don't remember his name). I told him what had just happened...my son got hit in the head 5 Times, by a child running around with a belt, in the playground. What response did I get? "Well, I can't go policing that playground, and the kids in it!" and "We can't do anything about that." Really?? He/The manager eventually Begrudgingly told me that he would go speak with the adults. I was Not asking him to "police the playground"! I was expecting a "That's too bad that happened!…
The game “Rock, Paper, Scissors” is quite well-known and is often used for making decisions or breaking ties. David Mason uses a metaphor of stone, paper, and scissors to tie into the theme of loneliness and the ironies of unity in the poem Song of the Powers.…
Art is expression through creativity that allows us to deliver a message that may be more significant than just words on a page. Art connects with people on a more emotional and spiritual level, and it is this that can help to drive home the artists message in his or her works. Natalie Czech’s “A Poem by Repetition by Allen Ginsberg” combines two powerful pieces of art, poetry and photography to create one cohesive piece of art. The art is inspired by writings documented in Ginsberg’s personal journal; not originally being a poet, Ginsberg later had his journal turned into a poem. Czech later discovered the poems and altered the ending to a broader form of self-appreciation, changing the last line of the poem from “anybody,” to “anything.”…
I did not remember how the conversation between teachers and parents stopped. The scene I still remember now is that we got out of the office silently, and every student walked with parents away in different directions. I did not know what would happen to them, but this was what happened to me. My parents and I got into the car and had remained silence for about five minutes. The time passed slowly, like as the time and air around me were freezing. Finally, the silence was broken at a waiting for a red…
To make up for the holiday concert I missed, I went to church on Sunday, Jan. 20 to critique the choir there. It was at Life Center in Tacoma, with the choir being made up of about 20 people; there were equal amounts of men and women singing. The service started at 10:30 a.m., with the first song, (which was more of a hymn) Bless the Lord Oh my Soul contemporarily sung by Matt Redman. The songs which were sung that day did have contemporary versions, but were sung usually acapella or with only a piano. There was one instance where the audience was expected to sing with the choir, too. What I noticed from the choir during this first song was that every single person was singing with pure emotion, naturally swaying with the beat of the song throughout. I could completely tell that they felt the rhythm of the song because they kept the tempo at a steady pace, but filled their voices with energy. The next song was The Only One being sung by a man named Anson Dawkins, who was the soloist. This song wasn’t considered as classical choral material, but Anson did an excellent job at keeping the same tone quality through the different ranges of the song; when the notes were starting to get a little high for his range, he didn’t force the notes out, but instead let them naturally flow through. Next, the choir sang We Wait by Don Moen, with Matt leading the song with the piano. When the choir broke into the five part harmony, however, the men were overpowering the women and could’ve listened better to improve their intonation. In other words, they were really sticking out among the other parts. Another song was Nothing but the Blood, also a hymn. In this song, the choir blended so well because everyone’s vowels matched. It made it easier to understand the text, too, because of that. One imperfection I heard was that at the end, everyone finished their note at different spots, making the ending sound a little sloppy.…
The next day Mackay tried to get close to these kids again but they all ran away. It wasn't until the third day when Mackay finally had the chance to say something. He tried hard to pronounce the word accurately. The kids were astonished: “He can speak our tongue!” They were pleased that “Foreigner” could actually speak their language. Mackay took this opportunity and pulled out a pocket watch for them to look at. They huddled up around him and touched his hand, button and clothes with curiosity; since then they and Mackay became friends. Mackay came every day, played and talked with them for 5, 6 hours a day. He jotted down all the new vocabulary he heard. His vocabulary improved so quickly that it amazed his own servant. Several of these kids became Christians, and one of them became a…
The question asked is if there are any problems with incorporating this book into the Bible. Ultimately to answer this question is not possible as the answer would be more a matter of opinion versus any actual fact. Religion, from my personal point of view, is that it is an individual’s opinion as to what their faith is. If religion or faith for that matter is an individual’s opinion then interpreting the Song of Songs and whether or not there are problems with incorporating it into the Bible is a question that would have many answers or viewpoints. I will attempt to provide my viewpoint to answer the question.…

I chose the song “Started from the bottom” by Drake as an example of poetic language in song. In the lyrics there is a reoccurring theme of how Drake (Aubrey Drake Graham) is implying how he came up with nothing, but now is living the dream. Being a young successful, rich, and popular young artist. The theme of the song is if you work hard for your dreams they will come true. Drake mentions in several lines about the late nights he would work as a teen and then focus on his music after. He experienced much doubt in the people around him and was told he couldn’t make it as a rapper. The hook at the end of the song he pretty much tells the fake friends that want to be apart of his life now that is famous to screw off, and he only associates with the crew that stuck by his side even when he wasn’t big.…
Music has been a part of my life since as far back as I can remember, it is something that I truly enjoye and find to be very therapeatic. I have always had a love for music , going back to the days of elemantary school when I had been in music class , I always knew that music would be womething that was in my blood. Actually I am from Mongolia which is so different country compare to America . I always wanted to join singing club or choir. But i have not gotten a chance to join such a thing because of my religion. Basically , It was my first time , I had opportunity to show Choral Concert which was held on the October 9 , on the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Everyone who was in attendance was dress up so nice and they were singing from heart. I enjoyed listening to the our friends as they sung the different melodies. As i was sitting there listening to the singers sing , i think about how strong there voices are and how strong they must be to get over the big space of the performance center.…
The best kind of sitting meditation for me is chanting. I experienced it for the first time in the temple in Japan where the mornings started with listening to the monk chanting for half an hour, and I just went into nothingness and got so relaxed. After a little while I began to practice chanting too both using OAM and chanting the heart sutra. I did not get good enough to get the full effect from the heart sutra but the OAM is one of my favourites. I learned to do the OAM the traditional way, where you do it in your own pace, and you deliberate start the sound in the lower belly and then move it up all the way to the head and using the belly muscles to create the sound which gives a very beautiful, unstrained sound. In addition,…
