Chris’ journey is a very great test of a man's will and physical strength. The pain he endures is so great it makes one question his mindset. It also surprised me how he

his parents without much warning for an Alaskan adventure(Krakauer 5). Very different from Galileo's scientific discoveries, Chris chose a different path of exploration.
It just shows that even the most different of people can have many similarities.
Galileo Galilei was one of the greatest astronomers to ever walk the earth, his discoveries were well known in his time and still are to this day. With his discoveries of heliocentrism and copernicanism he pioneered the great field of astronomy. Despite all of his peers who doubted him he prevailed as one of the greatest scientists in history.
He had many social challenges along his journey, as well as the mental stress of being under that pressure to make new discoveries.
The struggles in my opinion an individual has to endure in daily life can be very hard for them. You never truly know a person's struggle till they're gone, and that is why you should never question it.
In Alex's case it was very near and dear to him to live a simple life with only necessities(Krakauer 45). In Galileo's case his life was dedicated to science and nothing was going to stop him from it.
Chris shows his dedication by not stopping his journey in multiple cases.
People such as Ron Franz, and Wayne Westerberg give him countless tidbits of helpful advice to survive(Krakauer 121) Ron Franz even offers to adopt Chris knowing that this dangerous adventure will kill him eventually(Krakauer 86). Galileo was not absent of struggles with his career, in his early studies as many scientists struggle with this, he couldn't find funding for his research. Not unlike Chris Galileo was said to be very intelligent and attended Princeton.(Marks 1).
In conclusion, These two people in their own respects didn't conform to society's rules they lived very different lives but they ignored their obstacles and achieved their dreams. Chris, living a very minimalist and transcendentalist lifestyle. Galileo living his life of solitude and focusing on his studies. Both chasing a dream but in very different ways. Obstacles came their way but they were no match for their unfaltering
spirit.
