To him it was simple because that's how he say life. But for others it might seem a little harder because of their view on life. McCandless purpose was that living was all about to doing what you want with your life. But this isn't easy for everyone. Shepard’s purpose was also simple yet kinda hard to understand why he did it. For shepherd his purpose was that money is needed to get to places in life and without money it's very hard or not possible at all.
