Christian University Reflection Paper
Jackson.Session:Reflection Paper
This is the first Reflection Paper required of me in this first Class, INT 201B at Colorado
Christian University (CCU). In this paper, I will reflect my general overview of this University and why I chose this particular one in my educational pursuit; my personal experience as well as what I hope to gain in my learning experience.
It was the year of 2010, I was contacted by another College seeking people who might be interested in returning to school. I had already completed an Associates degree, but hoped to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. My daughter's illness resulted in Surgery, time and assistance in her recovery, a major loss of income and even requiring us to relocate. I give God glory for his grace for this place, but had little hope to complete school. I submitted an application to another University that was unable to help.

I inquired in hope of a new start. This time, I contacted CCU and Enrollment Counselor Jeanne Birch called me. I was reluctant to try again; however her Godly persistence, persuaded me to apply again. Now, I believe God's mercy, grace and favor is causing me to regain what I lost because of the warm, spiritual, atmosphere at CCU. Each time I come online I see encouraging scripture, supportive prayerful classmates that increase my confidence that God rules even in seemingly impossible situations; therefore, success is inevitable.
Finally, my reflections of reading our first required book, Courage & Calling by Gordon T. Smith, there is such an in-depth enlightening of the call of God upon our lives as well as our response to it, increases my determination to commit to be one God can and will

At the end of my fifth grade year, I unexpectedly got accepted to Risley Early College Academy, a program designed to prepare middle and high school students for college. Risley was originally an ordinary high school, which has been standing for years, but someone decided to turn the school into a college program for young students. Throughout my years at Risley, the school was ranked as number one in testing, which proved that the program was a success. Even though the program was doing so well and had so many achievements academically, the school closed down due to budget cuts. The closing of Risley left me stranded with no other option for a school in mind. This was only part of God master plan.…

I am here to discuss how hard of a situation is has been for me to get back into school. I have been out of school for 10 years and never thought it would be this difficult. We hear every day the sayings and advertisements of “go back to school” or “continue your education, it’s as easy as 1-2-3”. Well, I’m here to say that I have had one heck of a time. From not having my parents push me in the right direction when I was younger to branching off and not finding out these things until later. I certainly don’t want to say it is too late to go back to school but I do feel to be a late bloomer. Anyhow, when I first got into Austin, I had to go back and forth to the campus 4-5 times without having any accurate information from a counselor. I mean, I’m a hands on person.…

The Old Testament of the Holy Bible gives many examples which provide modern man with guidelines for the use of scientific method. Millam (2008) explains that there is an underlying order in nature demonstrated by the patterns and regularities of God’s creations. These regularities can be seen in the forces of nature and are stable throughout space and time (Millam, 2008). The original classification of species, use of precise measurement, and even the first account of scientific research, are all included in the Old Testament of the Holy Scriptures. God gives scientists some clear frames of reference for seeking knowledge and truth in science.…

Ever since high school, I have struggled with school. After graduating high school, I graduated with a 1.7 GPA. I always knew I was an average student, so I accepted my GPA proudly. After careful thought and consideration, I made the desire to return to school into a realistic goal. I had finally come to the conclusion, that it was time to take control of my circumstances, rather than continue to let my circumstances control me. For the first time in twenty years, I have a window of opportunity to fit a degree program into my daily schedule. Returning to school had always been a desire of mine, but in the past, I did not think I had the time or the money to pursue a degree. I was a single mother, I was working all of the time, my children were very young, and half of my wages went to daycare expenses.…

Through the course of five weeks I have tutored a third grader by the name of Willy one hour each Thursday. Willy is a high-spirited kid who loves to learn. He goes to a school named Corpus Christi, a school I spent my sixth through eighth grade years at, and is also the organization I volunteered for. I chose this particular work because I love working with kids considering I have 4 younger brothers and sisters. This also gave me an opportunity to put my knowledge to good use and to be a good role-model towards Willy. What I gained from this experience is satisfaction from helping a young student cope with his academic struggles and learn to surpass them in order to be successful. I most definitely would do this project again if I had the chance.…
