Smoking is perceived as harmful to the public. Three young boys were smoking together. One uses gun lighter, which signifies danger. Closely looking at their faces, I assume that they were smoking because of depression. This advertise is passing on a negative influence to upcoming generation. The advertise was created by the Center for Diseases Control, to inform non-smokers about the dangers of smoking. It compares cigarettes to bullets in a gun as a way to explain how cigarettes are deadly.
The commercial represents ethos, the fact that it was published by CDC. CDC is a well-known organization. Also, Pathos is the powerful aspect of this commercial. The CDC is depicting a picture of a gun to help them
relate smoking to guns, which in turn conveys them to relate smoking to death. Along with ethos and pathos, there is a logos present in the commercial. The publisher has used several facts that are linked with smoking. CDC is picturing a closer look of their faces to show the negative effects of smoking. Which will persuade the viewer not to smoke.
Commercial 2 : Women
While enjoying a pizza party at home, kids at the dinner table spilled juice, water and food on the table. However the dad was having a great time with kids. Whereas this busy mom tried cleaning up the mess using bargain paper towels. She had to use so many sheets per spill that a roll just couldn't keep up with her kids. She noticed that bargain paper towels were cheap in quality, it didn’t soak liquid in one piece of towel. Therefore she immediately went to Walmart and bought Bounty, which is two times more absorbent and strong. This lucky mom found a good deal on Bounty with NFL Prints.
This advertisement represents logos because they use modes of reasoning to prove their point of view. Their argument was regarding the use of bargain paper towels when Bounty is two times more absorbent and strong. Also, the lab test that they did, comparing how much a bounty paper towel soaks up compare to an ordinary brand. Doing this test shows that they're claiming is fact.
