Introduction
Cirque du Soleil enjoys excellent international recognition. Their unique style is believed to have reinvented the circus arts. Having attained an exceptional level of excellence, it has experienced strong growth since it was founded in 1984. Currently, Cirque du Soleil is wanting to diversify its commercial activities. In order for them to be successful, we must first determine their strengths and identify the challenges they face.
One of the company’s main strengths is the cohesion among employees, maintaining a strong sense of belonging, and attractive and inventive salary conditions. Cirque du Soleil has also adopted a dynamic style of management, creative and well adapted to the world in which the company evolves. Lastly, Cirque du Soleil has always greatly valued cultural diversity and has always emphasized the richness it brought.
There are also some obstacles that Cirque du Soleil must take into account in implementing its business plan. First of all, several managers who had grown up with Cirque du Soleil are preoccupied by questions of an operational nature and are having difficulty investing their energy in strategic planning. Due to several factors, the company is also experiencing a high turnover rate, in particular the difficult touring conditions, which include many relocations and a large number of shows each week. Another important point that needs to be addressed is the problem of communication. The presence of many people of different nationalities, speaking different languages, is a challenge. Dealing with several nationalities greatly influenced the quality of communications. (Belcourt, Bohlander, Snell, Managing Human Resources, 5th Edition, p689)
