Civil Disobedience In Sophocles Antigone
Civil Disobedience is the active, professed refusal to obey the laws, demands ,and commands of government, or of an occupying international power. Civil disobediences take stands for what they believe in; even if that means being the only one standing. They have to act on courage and faith to know that everything is going to be alright in the end. In my sources of civil disobediences are well displayed not in the amount of people but large in the voice that speaks up. I believe anyone who has ever been apart of a movement like this was courageous for deciding to stand up and fight for what they believe in. In one of the literary pieces the character Antigone from the Sophocles play “Antigone” took a stand against her religion the law and cultural tradition.Her beloved brother had died and they weren't going to bury him her Uncle, The king Thebes and Creon had all told her not that he wasn't going to be buried and she knew that the only way her brother would be accepted by the gods would be a proper burial. Going against what her uncle,the kind and cream had told her to do she decided that she was going to do what she thought was best for her and her brother she knew that was a part of their culture and the tradition to please the honor of the law of gods and she believed that he deserved a burial despite what anyone had said against her wishes.
