In 21 years I strongly believe High School for American students will be extremely different compared to what I know as a junior in High School today. I think as China, Japan, India and many other countries begin to take steps toward a more advanced education American education systems will be forced to change or risk being surpassed by foreign countries.
American education as I know it now as a student compared to when I’m 38 years old will be extremely different. I think that as America attempts to keep pace with other countries advancement in education teachers, students, and administrators will be forced to forget the national standard of education and adapt to a global standard of education being pioneered by countries such as Japan, China, India, and other countries looking to take steps towards brighter futures for their younger generations.
Although I believe the education system will be different when the class of 2035 graduates I do not feel it will be vastly different. I predict that students will still attend class every day at their chosen High School. I think the most pressure will be on the teachers to keep up a high standard of education and motivating their students to meet those standards.
As for a change in curriculum and specifically what students will be reading in literature classes and summer reading lists will have some change but not drastic changes. I feel that classic authors such as Shakespeare or Mark Twain will remain. At the same time I think new authors from countries whose education system is leading the advancement of education change around the globe will be seen more on reading list of High School students in America.
Personally I think the change in education from a national standard to a global standard is in the best interests of American students. I think teachers would need to be groomed for this change beginning immediately in order to keep up with other countries growing education systems. I honestly couldn’t see myself being a teacher in the system I have described. The most pressure will be on the teachers to have their students meet global standards. I wouldn’t want that kind of pressure as well as I’m don’t believe I would enjoy teaching. One thing I do believe is that teachers capable of meeting these standards will be difficult to find and therefore I think teachers should and will be paid far more than they are now.
If this change in education does happen in the next 21 years I strongly believe it will be for the better of the younger generations of America and the world. A higher standard of education can only lead to more success because the people who meet the standard will be ready for the outside world in any country they may choose.

I believe that it should be replaced but it needs to be replaced with something that gives teachers more freedom to teach the way they feel their students will learn best. It would be possible for school districts to be in charge of their own numbers, and send these numbers in annually showing how well their students are doing. With that said there would need to be an audit from time-to-time making sure districts are not cooking the books, and kept honest.…

The end of the nineteenth century brought an explosion of change to American culture. This change came in the form of economic opportunities, massive immigration, and social reforms. As society progressed into a deeper state of industrialism, Americans adapted to a new way of life that accompanied the flourishing industries. Amid the economic and political changes that were occurring during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, social issues began to surface and called for a diverse array of reforms. Among the wide range of social problems that Americans sought to address was the issue of education. The schools began to experience a paradigm shift within the classroom. The classroom was evolving into an environment that would appropriately prepare American children for the shifting culture that was transpiring outside the school. The purpose of the classroom underwent a transformation in the early 1900s as new classroom practices were adopted that focused largely on the development of the student not only academically, but also socially.…

It is dumbing down our children by focusing solely on reading and mathematics. By ignoring everything but basic skills, it is not preparing students to compete with their peers in the high-performing nations of Asia and Europe, nor is it preparing them for citizenship in our complex society” (Ravitch). Some of the contributing factors to the failing education system can be described as far back to 1837 when the famous American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson addressed the essential influences on a man’s education in his speech “The American Scholar.” In this speech, Emerson describes several aspects of how students should learn and these points can still relate to today’s education system. Some believe school systems have advanced and have gotten a lot better over the years. There is no arguing that our educational system has been transformed and much of that credit goes to advancing technology, but who exactly is education advancing for? The United States continues to make improvements in the area of education and has created a plan within the government to apparently establish any hurdles to an equal education. An example of this is the United States Department of Education directed to erase the racial diverseness in the education system. A sub agency of the United States Education System, the Office for Civil Rights, has expanded its duties from simply conducting laws, to now overseeing…

The structure of American education has changed dramatically since it’s inception. It traditionally sorted students by their abilities. During the Colonial Era, the educational system was built on tiers where only the top few continued on while the others were dismissed (DuFour, DuFour, & Eaker, 2008). During the 1900s, beliefs changed to the idea that the state had a duty to educate all children at least through elementary school, those that could afford to pay went on to high school. When Russia beat America into space by launching Sputnik in 1957, the educational system came under attack and higher…
