Clownfish are a species that live protected from predators. They inhabit in sea anemones for shelter. The nematocysts of the sea anemones are poisonous to predators. The clownfish coat their bodies in their own mucus, which prevents them from being stung. The clownfish attract other fish with its bright colours into the tentacles of the anemone, which gives the anemone an easy feast. Therefore, the two organisms have a mutualistic symbiotic relationship.
Some types of squid use bacteria to produce light, this is called “bioluminescence”. The uses for this are mating, distracting prey and predators, luring prey in and communication.
