In the book Nickel and Dimed on (Not) getting by in America, the author lived a life of a low wage worker. This experiment, while deemed insightful by some people, was considered dull and unrealistic to one of my classmates. In response to the question, “What parts of the book made Ehrenreich’s experience unrealistic?” my peer said, “She didn’t experience what low wage workers really went through. In Into the Wild, McCandless really went into the wild and experienced everything, but Ehrenreich didn’t live a poor life. If she had done that it would have made for a much more interesting book.” I agree with my classmate on this comment because while I did learn about some struggles that low wage workers have to go through, I didn’t learn what…

My RCS Capstone Experience challenged me by forcing me to speak infront of a large group of people, who have had more years of experience than I have. Also a physical challenge for I had to develope my upper body strength for the training I had to endure. Both of these things pushed me out of my confort zone, but in the long run I know they will be valuable skills for the future. I have been a volunteer at Jacobs Creek Fire Department for three years, but even with these years there is still always room for improvement. This topic is important to me because the people in my station are like family to me. I know even on my worst of days that they will always have your back. In addition being in the fire department brought me and my dad closer,…
PLC Final Reflection Describe/discuss how your PLC meetings and your learning, influenced your practice? Please provide specific examples related to what you learned when you presented your own practice, as well as what you learned when your colleagues shared their practice. Our PLC group has influenced my practice by making me aware of the focus areas to improve my practice. As I compiled my information, I realized I should have varied my assignments and given the self-check part of the assignment to the inclusion class only. The other students felt it was not challenging for them.…

In this paper the author will examine and assess the culture concerns and influences in today’s society along with the mixed culture as it directly relates to the effect it has on the criminal justice system. The author will address how does the concerns of the culture effect justice and security administration and practices, contemporary methods used in societies with mixed cultures, how do these influences relate and affect nondiscrimination practices, and if the famous criminal justice historian Sir Robert Peels nine principles to organize a police department were presented today would these methods and theories work.…
This was a really eye opening experience. The inventory got me thinking about many different aspects and how I learn and approach different problems and situations. The implication is that the different selfs (physical, emotional, social, critical, creative, and passionate) affect how you learn. In some situations you might be more confident in yourself than others. However, after you complete the self profile it is not really well defined about what the term survival, maintenance, and enhancement means. I can deduce that the survival means that I am just getting by, the maintence means I am trying but have to work at it, and enhancement means that I have mostly mastered that portion of myself. This would open up a discussion with the support team as to what your strengths and weaknesses are. I know for myself by thinking about the questions, it made more aware and as I go into a situation, I might think differently about how I approach the…
The self-assessments were very helpful in exploring career possibilities. I was able to gain a better understanding of my interests, such as my skills, personality, and values. The self-assessments gave me a list of possible career fields and professions that matched my interests. This allowed me to explore other career fields and learn about the other employment opportunities out there that best matched my personal attributes. The self-assessment can be helpful in the future by allowing me to discover which type of nursing field I would want to specialize…
Reflection allows an individual to identify the reasons or purpose of understanding the outcome of a particular situation in depth in term of emotions on thought and feeling on the topic area. In addition, Reflection is something that we do implicitly as part of being human, underpinning our identities through a process of negotiation between our sense of self and our experiences of others (Demetriou, 2000, p.210). Therefore, I have implemented this quote in my professional and personal goals I wanted and have achieved thought-out the process of the module. I have made continues effort in building my confidence in situations that I have felt uncomfortable in.…
I have goals that are being met by attending DCCC and hopefully in two or three years I will finally get my associate degree and finish school as an EMT or a paramedic. DCCC courses I have taken so far have helped me become a better learner, thinker and not only help me with my life choices in college but also in regular everyday life. I am still changing and finding new study habits and trying to find what methods of…
The career plan building activity: reasoning aptitude helped me realize my strengths and opportunities. The results in the strength category were lower than I thought they would be. I scored the highest on adapting to change and that was the one that I felt I would have scored the lowest because I do not do very well with change unless I am prepared for the changes beforehand. When it came to researching, taking initiative, being innovative, organizing, and delivering results, I score 3 out of 5 possible points. I felt that with organizing and taking initiative, I would have had a higher score because I organize everything and I tend to take the initiative in a lot of situations at work, with school, and in my personal life.…

The website explained that although I did well, there was still room for improvement in this element of my personality. I was glad to know that I tested well however, and even more encourages to ensure improvement in this part of my…
2. With result of the assessment, I think this results accurately reflect my self-perceptions. The reason I why stated this because I preferred to use direct observation, information, and collect another fact for making a decision. This style is required high tolerance and I personally make the decision based on the fact of data or information to support before comes the final decision. For example, I choose Accounting for my major, it shows that my personality fit this related field based on the assessment because I have to deal with numbers, analysis, and other information.…
