Breaking News with CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News
Immediately, when I went to CNN.com, I found a link with a picture to see all information, about the terror strike in Mumbai. Also, there was links where you could click on videos to see how deadly the situation truly was. CNN.com included things such as: the causalities rates and also how many people were injured. Furthermore, the site also gives information about how you could link this story to Facebook, or even Twitter, so that other people could read about what is going on around the world. With this in mind, this could and would increase CNN.com publicity, making more people view the top stories as a result. Therefore, CNN.com provided a lot of information and coverage of the terror strike in Mumbai.
Upon accessing the MSNBC.com website, I was able to locate the article immediately. The article’s title was displayed in bold and blue-colored letters, which stated, “Official: 21 people killed in terror attack in Mumbai.” Once I clicked on the link it revealed a big picture of people surrounded around one of the disaster areas, caused by the bomb explosion. Also, on this website at the bottom it gives three options to tell people about the story. With this in mind, you can choose to email someone, share it on Facebook, or share it on Twitter. These are the key elements people could use in order to spread the story to others, so that they may be knowledgeable of the disasters occurring around the world. MSNBC.com also has an interactive video of Hillary Clinton speaking out about the despicable act of violence against innocent people. Furthermore, it also has a link called NDTV, in India to get a view of the live coverage. Therefore, this article is constantly updated to inform the public of the progress of the city, as well as the causality rate and the injured count.     The biggest breaking story I chose was about the Afghans heading to the polls to vote amid the threats of insurgent attacks. On the CNN website, it seemed like the story was less detailed and descriptive than the other sites. Even though it covered the situation in Afghanistan, the information was delivered in a more passive way than FOXNews and MSNBC, almost as if it was a more opinion-based article. I noticed also that some of the key points that were covered on the CNN site were also covered in the other sites. Information on how many candidates were competing for election and how many seats were available in parliament seemed to be a point that all of the sites included. One main difference in the information that CNN covered, compared to the other sites, was it didn’t discuss or report anything about deaths during the election process. While news of different attacks were covered, like a roadside bomb blowing out the glass of a governor’s vehicle for example, reporting that there were no injuries quickly followed. There weren’t many links included on the page that related to the story. However, the one link that was there was a video that helped reinforce what the article covered. Other related links lead to topics on Afghanistan and the Afghanistan war. The commentaries on the CNN article were different because they described different accounts of what happened. Some discussed people were still going to the polls to vote while others came from candidates in the election.…

    The news of any tragedy can quickly spread through towns and cities close to the area where it happened, and it can also spread to other states and possibly the whole country depending on the severity of the tragedy.
