Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel is revolutionary she changed the way people saw fashion. No other designer has been able to give so much back to society, her work is no doubt part of the liberation of woman. Coco Chanel was the first designer to think out of the box, she created unique ideas to make fashion more comfortable for woman. For example her little black dress, famous suit are few examples of her many creations. Coco is very unforgettable she is, legendary couture designer. She has changed the way designers execute their ideas and thoughts. Coco received the Neiman Marcus award in 1957 which showed how much she accomplished throughout time. Coco Chanel has proved to the world that she is the ultimate fashion queen; she has gone through many obstacles to get where she wanted to be today. Coco did not have it easy her whole life, she went through a lot to get where she wanted to be. She was born on August 19, 1882 in Saumur, France. Unfortunately she lived in an orphanage for most of her life her dad abandoned her 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Coco’s mom died due to a difficult pregnancy this was not the ideal life. However the nuns in the orphanage taught her to be independent. The nuns sent her to work in local shop after 6 years, when she was ready to be on her own. The boutique was called House of Grampayre she worked there as a seamstress and shop assistant. People from all over town went to her for alterations on their clothing. Her nickname coco had been given when she briefly sang as a career. She sang at a café called La Ratonde. Coco sang of a young girl who lost her named coco the crowd then started calling her Coco. Coco said in an article The Atlantic that it was “shortened version of cocotte, the french word for ‘kept woman.” Overtime she has grown from a girl who had nothing to working her way up and having everything she could have dreamed of. People all over the world reacted to this change in good way.
