In Matthew 11:28, we are told to go to God when we are weary and burden and he will give us rest. When we are broken and at our lowest, it is God’s unchanging hands that can be our guiding light, and make us stronger. Christian counselors should use the word of God, to help the client reconstruct their thought process. By choosing to have prayer and scriptures inside the sessions, the clients will be one step closer to breaking free. The client’s perception of themselves is the most important aspect I can learn initially. By realizing this, I will have an idea of what would be an appropriate treatment plan for this client.
Application
In this article, it is emphasized that it is a necessary and vital component in counseling, to implement spirituality in the sessions. It would be pivotal to use a survey, assessment and/or questionnaire during the interviews or intakes. By using either one of the suggested methods above, I will be able to fully understand my clients. This includes understanding their emotional state, to their physical and spiritual lives. From prior knowledge of religious surveys, it is important to keep in mind that as a counselor, my client may not be fully honest with their answers. It is still my duty to attempt to attain all valid and correct information so we can accurately treat
