younger I wasn’t like any other athlete it took me some time to find an athletic bone of some sort in my body, the first sport that I was able to compete in was Basketball and I could remember it like it was yesterday, the coach made me feel as if I was LeBron James and I was drafted to the Miami Heat, and my teammates made me feel as if I had second home but the mentality I had at the moment , I wasn’t quite ready to be able to exert myself to the expectations of a 5th grade athlete therefore I became ineligible and had to sit out that season due the fact that I was managing a solid 56 in English at that time . My mother was so held bent on me not being able to compete and not participating I didn’t hop back into sports until 7th grade, where everyone was forced to do some type of athletics. I had worked so hard to bring my grades up that I didn’t give my teachers nor mother a chance to take a double look at my grades , I went to the season strong minded and a different person than before . Years after my first athletic debut I gained a different view on myself and my surroundings, I became independent, from learning on the court that my mistakes are my mistakes and it is up to me to try to fix them, and my team will help me out later, taking this to the class room I gained a commendable trait of showing up too class early and staying after class to get a better understanding of things. I also gained the trait of integrity as well as having the ability to do what’s right when no one is looking has become a habit . These things I still use till this day, and they have helped me with a lot of my achievements such as becoming a letters to literature finalist freshman year , being invited to different ceremonies to celebrate my accomplishments and being invited to different trips as a reward for the things I have done . Sports has brought e a long way as a person and its never a regret .
