“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” In life, we are faced with many situations that cause us to have to make decisions. The easiest thing to do isn’t always the right; the right thing isn’t necessarily the easiest. Sometimes we have to make the right choices on our own without any influence. Going to college was the best decision I ever made. Of course I could have taken the easy way out and not attend college, but if I had taken that option, I know that I would not be able to have the lifestyle that I want. I chose to go college so I can have a career, make my family proud, and be a great role model for my children. In Arkansas, people who only received their GED or high school diploma earn about $22,000 per year, but people who received a bachelor’s degree or higher earn about $53,539 per year. I plan to pursue a career in education, majoring in Early Childhood Education at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. I want to become an elementary school teacher, then principal, earning a salary of about $64,547. I have a passion for children and helping others. Also, I feel that I’m a natural leader, which is why I think that being a principal will be best for me. Without the right …show more content…
education and training, these goals would not be possible.
Everyone wants to be the person that makes the family proud.
Of my mom’s children, I am the first to attend college. This alone, makes my family proud. Being raised by my grandparents, everyone expected me to further my education by going to college, preferably UAPB, to continue the family tradition. My grandparents and I are extremely close. They have exposed me to different things to make sure I was a well-rounded young lady. I know that if I hadn’t taken that step to come to college, I would have disappointed many people. I also made my family proud by receiving many scholarships and two grants to help with my college tuition. There is no excuse for others not to further their
education.
My grandma is a wonderful example for me. She graduated top of her class in high school and college. She has a Bachelor’s in Business Education and a Masters in Elementary Education. She got married and then had three boys. She and my papa have been married for 48 years. I want to be just like her. I plan on getting graduating college, getting married, and having children. Once I have my children, I want to be a great example for them, as my grandma has set for me. I don’t want my children to ever to have suffer on my behalf. By going to college, I’m already off to a good start.
I know I’m going to have some pretty tough time in the next four years, but I also know that with God on my side I can do anything. Having goals and wanting to achieve them will also help me. I know that I want to have a stable career. Without a college a degree, it’ll be very hard to live the life I want. Choosing to go to college has made my family proud. I also have carried on the tradition of attending UAPB. Lastly, I have started off setting a good path for my future children to follow by furthering my education. Of the many decisions I’ve made throughout the years, I can truly say that going to college has been the best one.
