Have you ever wanted to go to a University that's known for it's engineering, Social Sciences, English language and so on? Or for one of the grandest locations of all, the big apple? Well the university I am talking about is in New York! Can you guess what university it is? If you guessed Columbia University then you are right. Columbia University is located on 116th st and Broadway, New York, NY 10027. New York city! Full of shopping and restaurants and bright lights at night. I have always wanted to visit New York city, but the possibility of getting to live there attending a college sounds even more exciting.

Well you're in luck because I got some great facts for you. Did you know that the founder of Columbia University was George 2nd of great Britain in 1754? And did you know that Columbia University is a private university? Also, in1784, former king's college in New york City had its name changed to Columbia college which became the present day Columbia University. South Carolina gave the name “Columbia” to its new city. Columbia is also the name of at least nineteen other towns in the U.S. Columbia and it’s the oldest college in New york and the fifth chartered institution of higher learning in the county. It is also one of nine colonial colleges founded before the Declaration of independence in 1776. Thats old! In 1754-1776 it was a royal college which means royals were only allowed to go the the college.What I found to be most fitting, was that Columbia University’s mascot is a lion. Columbia most popular majors are engineering, social science, and English. Journalism is also big there. My mom had wanted to go there for Journalism when she was younger. Columbia is a great school and has lots of majors, for example I want to major in Criminal Justice and that’s available too. You could also major in Dance, Date science, Earth science or even Computer Science. The list goes on. Columbia University only has 20 or less students in each class at a time which also gives you the best chance at learning and completing the course successfully.
