Yes, I was very surprised to read the information or history. I was surprised because in schools we are not exposed to the Native American history as we should be. In history classes, we are given a brief overview of what happened to Native American, but not the true and complete history or the statistics that was involved. I was shocked and surprised by the genocide question. So, as humans or citizens of United States we do not make an effort to know the history, so we are part of the blame for what has happened to Native Americans.

Columbus Day should not be celebrated because he took credit for “discovering America” and most people believe Columbus discovered America even though Columbus did not discovered America. And in the eyes of the Native Americans, Columbus is considered to be an evil man, because of the harm he has caused the Native Americans. For example, he enslaved many Natives, he tortured them, separated them from their families, and stole their property, etc.… Based on these facts, we should not declare Columbus Day.
Yes, American Indian team mascots should be allowed. But, the teams need to use the mascot in an appropriate and honorable way. The teams need to use the Native American mascots because by using the mascots, Americans will be showing that they care and respect about the Natives and their culture. However, the universities or organizations need to do their best to prevent any controversies or else there will be so many problems.
The biggest stereotype I have heard about Native Americans is that they are called “Indians.” I have heard this in 7th grade in History class.
