Community Service Paper Hello Class, how are you today? I have come today to talk to you about a community organization that I participate in at, a local church by my house. The church’s name is seventh day Adventist church in Melbourne off of 192 and Glendon Dr, the community project is actually one I am quiet fond of, it is a youth outreach program which involves kids in teams sports to focus positive energy in a large group and to reassure them there are things you can do with your time that are fun and beneficial. Seventh day Adventist church has a mission statement that touched my heart when read it at first, that being “We through Christ…
Embrace the adventure of truth
Provide insight and guidance to a healthful lifestyle
Provide a caring and Christ centered education alternative
Emphasize the importance of the three Angeis messages
Portray the true character of God” (seventh). These words though new to me touched me a lot, I am not normally a church going type of person but just so happens my neighbor is a pastor at this church. After being neighborly once or twice he ask me” what I do with my spare time? “I stopped dead in my track because I thought that he was going to ask me for a favor, after a awkward pause I replied “mostly school work and work on the house other than that nothing much why what’s up?” he in return started to tell me about the youth outreach program, And I told him that I used to be in a big brother program when I was in the navy and lived in Virginia. As he smiled Bruno asked if I would like to come to the church and play basketball with them, I quickly replied “hell yeah”. So Bruno told when and time to be there. I went and brushed up on my skills, at this point I was a little rusty and did not want to be whooped on by some energetic little kids. So with a about 3-4 hours of practice I was feeling more confident about being able to keep up. When I arrived at the church I noticed that I and Bruno were the first ones there. I

The components of citizenship, community service, academics, work and home life, and extracurricular actives help me shine as a well-rounded individual. As an involved and caring citizen in the Union Township community, I do my best to make my mark. Displaying a good role as a citizen through community service has been a value I possessed ever since I could remember. At a young age, I started to serve my community with my parents at both school and church events and it has stuck with me since. Through community service such as being an assistant teacher in St. Veronica’s Religious Education Program, Glen Este High School’s member of National Honors Society, and Key Club, I not only helped out Union Township but I have also made new relationships and feel good about myself. Community service always makes me feel better because I know I’m helping others and making my mark through the friends I have made through both of these service programs.…

I did not feel like anyone looked at me or judged me. I was not scared at that point because I realized the people in this meeting were not the scary or even close to what I had imagined. As I sat down I tried to just go with the flow of what others were doing: I noticed the coffee and donuts, and looked around a lot to just take in the whole idea. As the meeting began a pledge was spoken amongst everyone and I felt like it helped show that everyone was equal and there for their one desire. I was nervous because people were beginning to speak, I kept thinking what am I going to say. However, as people spoke I was so intrigued with their stories and situations that I lost focus on what I was going to say. I realized I did not have to speak and I would not be…

Throughout my life I have always been committed and passionate in what I do. My faith fell first on this list. From a very young age I knew the importance and growth that came from knowing God and being an active member of a church family. The growth I experienced in church manifested and trickled out into my everyday life including academics. Central Advent Christian Church set this foundation of growth as a young man which has allowed me to build upon this foundation.…

Should the United States require all adults to perform one year of community service by the age of 30? I personally think this is a topic that is not at all, relevant. I believe if someone wants to lend a helping hand, then they should lend a helping hand. If you don't prefer to do this kind of community service, the government shouldn't force you to do so. There would be a lot of change in how community service is done today if the government required at least one year to be served by the age of 30.…

In today’s society, mischievous actions are often looked down upon and on occasions are subject to confinement to protect others from detriment. Individuals that commit offenses that are punishable my law may be sentenced to a place confinement such as jails, prisons, detention facilities, etc. People who are assigned to serve sentences in these facilities are seen as a danger to others and are best in captivity until these behaviors become either close or completely obsolete. The logic behind this is that a person guilty of a crime will learn over a certain time and mentally break oneself down. Another reason may be that ones offense is so sever that they will have to spend the rest of ones life in incarceration or pay with death. Overall incarceration is meant to be a punishment in order to prevent future activity that breaks what is considered as peace in society.…

Many people engage in community service project because they are either forced as a punishment or sentence. Others engage in community service out of Spirit of unselfishness, or a desire to connect with their communities by helping out. For me, it brings a sense of completeness. During the past few semester my team members and I have engage in different projects, Collecting food, clothes and donating to the homeless. In a way I’ve experience working the different organizations and helping the community. But with this particular project, it meant much more then collecting for the disadvantaged, It was about lending a hand and your heart to a community in need.. During my involvement in this fieldwork project I got the opportunity to offer my unconditional assistance for one day in a non-profit making community based project. The name of the project was Liberty City Construction, which is being undertaken by a Christian ministry organization whose aim is to improve the livelihood of low-income families through building affordable and decent houses at a 0% interest rate. The organization founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda fuller has built and rehabilitated more then 100,000 families in need, becoming the world leader in addressing the issues if poverty housing. They work in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all social, economic, and ethic group to expand communities with people in need by building an renovating houses so that everyone can experience God’s love and can live and grow in to all the God intends. For that particular day, three of my group members and I…

The first night I was ever invited to join my youth group was during the fall of 2008. Sitting in youth group on Wednesday nights has taught me about God on a much deeper level and has helped me have a more personal connection with my Lord and Savior. Because I have been in youth for six years I have developed logos by having a well-rounded knowledge of the Bible, and because of my level of experience. My youth group knows that they can come to me if they are ever stressed or concerned about anything, or even if they have any questions. Additionally, Robert and Leslie know they can come to me if they need help with the youth or setting up a game. Every now and then, Leslie and Robert will plan a game night instead of teaching. It is during these nights that they usually pick me as a team captain because of my knowledge of the Bible, due to all my years in youth group.…
