Compare and Contrast Essay In the last decade, online learning has become an overwhelmingly popular choice for students who want to continue with their higher education. Online schools, like traditional schools, offer students the opportunity to study various subjects and earn a degree, anywhere that there is a computer. The convenience and independence of online learning is a stark contrast to the structure and social setting of traditional schools. I will compare and contrast the two types of schools and determine how effective online schooling is compared to traditional schooling. While I believe that online schools offer a comparable education to traditional schools, that the lack of social interactions and structure make it a less desirable option for higher education. I also was one of those people who had heard all of the good stories about online schools and I immediately enrolled at University of Phoenix. I had assumed that I would breeze through my classes because I was usually a good student that didn’t require a great deal studying to pass a class. However, I learned rather quickly that I was not good at motivating myself or working independently on the online classes but instead I needed and thrived in the social setting of a traditional school. The ideal student for online school is someone with little time who needs a convenient way access to higher education. The one similarity of online schools and traditional schools is that both schools offer an education comparable to that of their counterparts. The level of education must be comparable throughout education institutions in order for them to be accredited. Also each school offers the opportunity to study numerous subjects and then earn a degree in the field. The courses available at both schools are also similar so long as the same general area
