The European countries began to expand their empires, and with large empires comes large amounts of power. Most of the countries that the Europeans conquered had never seen European people before. This made them feel intimidated. The intimidation was caused by the white European men, on horses, going and conquering countries with people of different color and only the knowledge of their countries animals. Not only were the men intimidating the large armies that came to follow them were frightening as well.
