In fact, Ezinma has captured Okonkwo’s fondness due to the fact that she looks exactly like her mother. “She looked like her mother who was once the village beauty” (44/4). Ezinma is very much like her mother, which is why Okonkwo is excited about. She also is very helpful, she wants to make her father proud by trying to do …show more content…
anything. She tries her hardest to please him so that she may not get treated as the others.
Meanwhile, Nwoye is the son of the first wife, he is most likely to be put on more pressure due to him being the age to start growing into a man. “Okonkwo wanted his son to be a great farmer and great man. He would stamp out the disquieting signs of laziness, which he thought he already saw in him”(33/2). Nwoye in Okonkwo's eye’s is a lazy man that is never going to get anywhere into life. It is seen that he reminds him of his father. It's not that Nwoye is a bad child it is that he is still young and is too naive to understand.
In fact the both are very similar, in many ways Ezinma and Nwoye share the common fact that they yes they get cruel words, but very rarely they do get shone some caring and compassion from their father.
Even if Ezinma is his favorite he will not hold himself back if she were to disrespect him nor will he tolerate such actions from Nwoye. He is an unsympathetic man and his very disgusting, who would bring fear into the ones you loves. The differences the both may have is that fact of his fondness and the fact the Nwoye is a man and will inherit everything or half of what his father has.
In conclusion he likes Ezinma than Nwoye. Ezinma’s likableness and her beauty which captured the eye of her father and how his fondness of her. Nwoye and his laziness he tries to diminish due to the overwhelming fact he reminds his of his father. His three wives he so much cares about, his children who are afraid of a beating and how they will make it alive. How he treats then as if they are toys, and strikes fear to make him feel powerful. In the end Okonkwo is a unsympathetic
man.
