Compare And Contrast Organised Activities Vs Creative Play
My position on the issue of whether organized activities or creative play is better is very simple. I believe balance is necessary, they both have their advantages and disadvanges. For the sake of the debate i would support creative play. Studies have shown this method to have proven advantages over organized activities. Results speak for themselves and the results are loud. As stated in the passage "Helping Children Play Creatively" many experts in child development say children need to expierence creative play to learn extremely important skills. Some of these skills are expressing themselves, thinking independantly, and developing critical thinking and problem solving. These skills are necessaties in everyday life and will elelvate your child's chances of becoming successful. My parents have always left time open every day during my childhood for me to express my self and strengthen my imagination. They would sign me up for organized activities but then watch and see which of those activties carried over into my creative play time. This is how we stumbled upon hockey. I fell in love with the sport and it shaped and molded me into the person i am today. …show more content…
According to the passage "The Benefits of Organized Activities" Janet Collins an adolescent health expert states that organized activities teach responsibility and commitment. In my own expience with hockey that statement is true. First and foremost, i would have never been able to take advantage of my love for the sport if it was not for organized activities and i wouldnt be the person i am today. Hockey definetly taught me commitment and responsibilty but there was times when it became too much and made it hard to want to continue in the sport. My fondest memories are of when my friends and i would just go outside and play endless hours of hockey in the street. No right or wrong way to

Sigmund Freud said it best when he said, “Every child at play behaves like a creative writer, in that he creates a world of his own, or, rather, rearranges the things of his world in a new way” (Pearson). Playtime is an activity that is constantly being eliminated or greatly reduced, in favor of more structured educational learning activities starting in kindergarten. Many educational facilities have reduced recess or play breaks in the daily, which can lead to the children becoming overwhelmed or act out, because they have not been able to express their energy. Many parents are simply too busy to be able to fully immerse themselves into playing with their children. Parents today are busier than ever and children are enrolled in a multitude of activities they are shuffled to. Often times, parents will believe that they need to provide a wide arrangement of enrichment activities to build up every skill and aptitude so that their child might become high achievers in both high-school and later on in college, and life…

Organized activities, on the other hand, rely on rules, schedules, and usually adult control which can hinder a child's freedom of expression. However, a child playing on its own using his or her immagination helps exercise their brain, grow, and become more creative. It shows what their true colors are, by being able to see their personality shine through their creativeness.…

Play is important for Children because it practices their linguistic, cognitive and social skills and contributes to their general personality development. Children use their minds while playing, because they are thinking and acting as if they were another person. When they make such a transformation, they are taking a step forward abstract thinking in that they are freeing their thoughts from a focus on concrete objects.
