They would spend most of their time in town selling items and start businesses there. If they weren’t in town they would be traveling selling goods such as silk, spices, and salt. Merchants would experience a middle class status level. They aren’t as rich as lords and nobles, but they are far richer than peasants and serfs.
Peasants and serfs were at the bottom of the social class in the Middle Ages. They lived on a lord’s manor and fought for their lord as well as farm on the land. Serfs were not allowed to leave their lords manor. For example, if you were born a serf in Constantinople, you would live and die there. Some serfs however would save up enough money from farming that they bought their own freedom. Also serfs in the MIddle Ages on a manor didn’t have much rights. The lord had control of everything that they did.
Based on this, the nobility and wealthy merchants on a manor experience a lifestyle that was much easier than the lives of peasants and serfs in the MIddle Ages. The nobility basically owned the peasants and serfs while wealthy merchants made a great lifestyle by selling items around the continent. Peasants and serfs however suffered from much hardship on the manor, having to work many hours on the farm every single
