Mr. Miyagi and Satan are both effective god teachers, despite the fact that they educate their pupils in different ways, they both help to shape the perspectives of their disciples with their experience, knowledge, and intelligence. Mr. Miyagi and Satan shape the views of their disciples and open their eyes up to different perspectives. Mr. Miyagi helps Daniel when he is in need; he takes Daniel under his wing in order to help Daniel grow as a person. At the same time Mr. Miyagi teaches Daniel that he should not learn karate so he can fight, on the contrary, he should learn about karate so he doesn’t have to fight and for his own personal inner balance. When Mr. Miyagi tells Daniel this, he is saying that he wants Daniel to be sure of himself, and his decisions, or to not act on them at all. He is telling Daniel to be determined and not to give up or do things halfheartedly. I think among the three Dark Romantic stories we read, “Devil And Tom Walker” written by Washington Irving provides the most powerful moral lesson. In “Devil And Tom Walker”, the author tells a story about the deal Tom made with the Devil and the results of Tom and his wife to illustrate that gaining ill-gotten wealth would always pay with retribution. For example: “Tom seized the check apron, but, woful sight! found nothing but a heart and liver tied up in it” (Irving 328). When Tom’s wife heard that the Devil gave Tom a chance to become wealthy, she pushed Tom to make the deal. Aftering her request being refused by Tom, she went to find the Devil herself, and never came back.…

"Devil and Daniel Webster," by Stephen Vincent Benet written many years after "The Devil and Tom Walker" by Washington Irving both very alike in many ways, as they both tell a tale implementing social values and human choices. In both tales i believe you can find differences as well fue to culture during their time periods. Benet established his prespective on social, moral, and cultural values differently from Irvings, he used a whole new mindset. Benet's tale used a more efficient way during his period of time he included perspectives of the past and he added a modern hint to the work. See Benet clarifies the moral value through the need to be able for a mans crops to prosper saying that it was absolutely okay to be inadequate if it was…

In this paper, Rankin has presented a challenging and enriching way to point out the seriousness, and need to define and stress Satan’s tactic and schemes in this battle. This book is presents another powerful reminder, that God is actively involved in the lives of those that diligently seek him. This book has provided a great deal of advice for any Christian that is interested in living to glorify God. One bit of advice that stuck with me through reading this book, and advice that has been etched in my heart, and in my spirit as I continue on the battlefield for the Lord, he wrote, “Keep the view from the throne. If we will look at life’s experiences from God’s perspective and what His Word says, then we will not be deceived by Satan who is seeking to defeat us by his lies, distorting reality from God’s kingdom perspective. It’s not really difficult to believe God.”…

Tadadaho is similar to European beliefs of Satan because he controls all the evil, rebelled against the other side and both have spirits watching us civilians on Earth. Tadadaho was a person of great powers. He could control the evil in the world and cause all bad things to happen. Tadadaho feeds off of violence and bloodshed, he loves wars. In many ways Tadadaho is similar to Satan. For one example, Tadadaho attacks the tribes without doing much work, he is battling with his powers. Tadadaho harmed the tribesmen when he fired arrows out of nowhere at them. He also put harm on their village by killing the leader`s one daughter and destroying the town. Satan is similar because he…

In the novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, although Dr. Henry Jekyll and Mr. Edward Hyde are of the same body, they have completely different personalities, as well as completely different physical appearances. While Dr. Jekyll “‘is a tall fine build of a man” (Stevenson 45), Mr. Hyde is described as “pale and dwarfish” (19). This contrasts the stature of both men. Dr. Jekyll is written to be tall, and Mr. Hyde short. The author writes Dr. Jekyll as having a “large handsome face” (24), yet creates a grotesque image for Mr. Hyde by giving him “an impression of deformity” (19) and “a displeasing smile” (19). These two men are written to be extremely different, not only in nature and appearance, but also…
