Have you ever read a book, and then they were going to make it into a movie? This happens many times, it is one way to get inspiration for the movie process. The trouble is, they don’t always transfer the same over to the big screen. As an audience, we tend to compare the two, and decide which one we would recommend, either the movie or the book. For the most part, the difference between the two are just minimal details that they decided were not needed. On some instances, the audience may get disappointed when they leave out details, even if they are limited. When some people read the book first, they want to rely their imagination from what they made out in their brain to their own eyes. That is difficult when they leave out parts from the …show more content…
The basic illustration of the features of characters were slightly altered. The main character, Cassie was described in the book with strawberry blonde hair. As pictured in the movie, the role played for Cassie was just blonde. Just as same as Sammy’s bear was expressed. Rick Yancey defined that his bear was old and chewed up. In the movie, the bear was in perfect shape. I know something like this might seem small to you, but when you are reading the book you instantly have a picture of what that character or objects would look like formed in your head. When the appearance of these instance’s change, it throws off the perspective for the viewer. Another difference was, when Cassie entered the camp her brother Sam was at. Everyone was mandated to go into a check-in, where they would be greeted with a doctor to implant a tracker into their neck. As constructed in the book, Cassie met a doctor named, Dr. Pam, and attacked her to get through to find her brother without the tracker. While in the movie, Cassie met Sergeant Reznik (played by Maria Bello), and killed her to get through, with no introduction of Dr. Pam at all. One of the sentimental event that changed was when Cassie realized her father was gone forever. At the camp, her family was staying at in the beginning of the book, Cassie witnessed Colonel Vosch (played by Liev Schreiber) kill her father. In the movie, Cassie does not witness the shooting at all, but does realize that all adults at the camp will be

Also, in the beginning doctor Baugh told Brick that Big Daddy still had cancer. While in the book Brick already knew in the beginning. Furthermore, in the movie there was never a reverend Tooker. To add on, in the book the main setting was Bricks room and in the movie it was throughout the house. On the other hand, Gooper and Mae are still very snoopy in both the book and the movie. Why is it that when a book gets it’s own movie that there are several differences between the book and the movie? Some people argue that the book is always better than the movie. There is a reason for this. Firstly, in most book to movie adaptations small details are changed or are just not included. Secondly, the movie often takes short cuts and doesn’t touch on certain aspects that were described in the book. Lastly, when reading a book you are free to make your own subtext and fill in the blanks with your imagination. The movie adaptations of books have always lacked the detail that's in the book, some things are completely cut from the movie to maintain a well paced story, and it fills in the gaps for us making the experience less unique.…

When you read a book do you visualize the movie in your head? When books are turned into movies most the time the author’s message is ruined, and the integrity of the novel. When someone writes a novel they write it from their point of view, their vision, it’s their story. But when a director hears, or reads the book they see it differently and from their point of view. Novels become a different novel when turned into a Hollywood movie because no one visualizes the same characters, settings or themes.…

One final comparison between the book and the movie is Sonny's physical appearance. The book portrays Sonny as a very clean-cut, well dressed individual, and somewhat as a book worm or nerdy-type. In the movie Sonny's attire is more relaxed, loose, yet preppy. He does not wear glasses in the movie and his personality is more outgoing. This dramatically increases his popularity in the movie, compared to more of a loner in the book.…

The length and depth of the book might produce a movie has many deleted or developed events. This change can lead to different results: add more excitement to the story or unclear point to the viewers. The limited time of movies, which is mostly 1.5- 3 hours, force the director to do editing and delete many parts of the movie. Although The Help movie deleted many characters and events from the novel, it did not effect on the success. The researcher thinks that the movie was not as good the book because there were many deleted and changed senses.…

Why I think the moviemaker chose those difference between the book and the movie was because in the book there was a narrator to tell you specific things. The narrator is there to tell some background information and make sure you get a better grasp of what’s taking place. So I feel as if in the movie they wanted you to pay closer attention to what was happening. And you have to have some differences between the two. While in the movie you can see more action and can sometimes explain things better by acting out, rather than being written out.…

The title of my novel is The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey. So far, there is only one main character in my book named Cassie, short for Cassiopeia. There is no real description of Cassie other than than being a 16 year old female. However, based on the post apocalyptic setting, I have an idea of the features that her environment would cause. The narrator searches for he food and water, so she has impressive stamina. She also has to carry supplies over long distances which means she is most likely in good physical health. The narrator has not expressed a negative attitude towards physical challenges. All of these attributes increase her chance of surviving in her…

The PBS article of film adaptation points out the difference between written text and film and the struggle of adapting a book into a film. Books have a widely known imagination because of the narrator and how he or she writes the story. We create the picture on what is going on however, in film, it takes away your visual and shows the picture. Films mostly rely on the Director and it comes from their point of view and their take of the story. Also a film is limited to a two-hour show, while a novel came use as much time to show more detail. Most films have a different story, sometimes a different conclusion to what is going on in the book. They make it Similar to the audience and more shorter to make it appealing than the long book. As…

One thing that make the film stand out compared to the book is the the overall character arcs. Surprisingly enough, while the story is about the chase for the serial killer, pretty much like the book, the overall main characters had gotten to three characters: Paul Graysmith, David Toschi, and Paul Avery. One thing that was very clear when it came to the book was that Graysmith never intended to be the main character for the story, more of like a narrator and evidence collector for the case that had him obsessed for the longest time. Meanwhile in the film, the film seemed to be more focused on Graysmith. It shows everything around Graysmith, like letters coming in from the Zodiac to his workplace at the Chronicle, or how his daily life changes within more of his obsession of the Zodiac.…
