Due to the French and Indian War there was the Sugar Act of 1764. England was in debt from the French and Indian War which is major because prior to the French and Indian War they were not. However the turning point of the French and Indian war resulted in more colonial unity such as the Albany Congress; intercolonial congress summoned by the British to achieve greater colonial unity and to assure Iroquois support in the war with French. This sense of colonial unity emerging is huge and very important. Without colonial unity America may not even be a country today. The unity lead to formation such as first continental congress and eventually led the colonists to rebel against the British in the Revolutionary War.
French and Indian War was a major turning point because it resulted in the shift of global balance of power. Similarly how the Revolution led to a shift in global power. The Treaty of Paris is an example because soon America would become a power and France would suffer from debt caused by their alliance with the Americans in the war.
