Vasco da Gama vs. Christopher Columbus "Following the light of the sun, we left the Old World" (Christopher Columbus). Imagine a life not having a route from one country to others, or not knowing what other world exist. Vasco da Gama and Christopher Columbus were both European explorers in the early 1400 hundreds, and these two explorers have a major impact on the history of the world. Vasco da Gama was the first European man to discover a sea route from Portugal to India with a completion of two voyages. Christopher Columbus on the other hand discovered a route from Spain to unknown world and had completed four voyages across the Atlantics Ocean (keegan). Da Gama link Europe and Asia for the first time in history while Columbus link new countries for the first time. Another discovery is that Vasco da Gama sailed along the Western coasts of Africa from North to South crossing the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa on his trip (Toussaint). However, Columbus sailed around the Atlantic Ocean from Spain. Another discovery between their discoveries is that Columbus explored many countries in central and South America but da Gama did not discover any country but discover a single way to India and some other parts of Asia. Da Gama affected history with trades. His discovery increases the chance and open the world of trading because before his discovery there wasn’t one and direct way to travel from Europe to Asia, but he was the first man to be able to find the way. Which made traveling and trading more convenient, faster and easier to get goods across the world. However, Columbus affected history with his discovery to a new countries, which allows the colonization period to start. He affected many countries in America, and he has a huge impact on all of them till this
