Although in my opinion, the Xbox 360 is a better purchase than the PS3. The Xbox 360 is $400 while the PS3 is $600. The Xbox includes one wireless controller, a detachable 20GB hard drive, a component HD audio/video cable, an Ethernet connectivity cable, a headset, and a power cable. The PS3 comes with one wireless controller, a 60GB hard drive, a USB cable, an Ethernet connectivity cable, and Bluetooth 2.0. While, the PS3 does have a 60 GB hard drive, it does not
include the HD audio/video cable or the headset. Also, the extra 40GB isn't necessary for most gamers. The Xbox 360 and the PS3 are the first two systems to be played in high definition.
The games have a realistic look, with fluid motion and crisp details. There is little, if any, difference in the resolution of the systems. It really depends more on the game being played. Wireless controllers are available for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. They are extremely convenient and far better than wired controllers in almost every aspect. The only downside to the wireless controllers is that they run on batteries which must be replaced when they die. This is a small price to pay for all the advantages they possess. The Xbox 360 controller weighs 9.5 ounces and the PS3 controller is only 4.9 ounces, giving Sony the upper hand. Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 allow online play, where you can play against and talk to other people all over the world. Sony doesn't charge monthly subscription fees to play against people online. You'll pay $5 to $8 for online access via the Xbox. But the PS3's online gaming service is missing a few advanced features, like universal feedback and matchmaking based on skill
set. Sony had only 21 games available for PS3 this past holiday season. Even though it can play the original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games, I doubt anyone is content playing old games on their brand new system. Xbox 360 had more than 160 games available and you can also play games from the original Xbox. Both systems can serve as a media hub for your home entertainment center. They are quite versatile for playing and storing music. You can rip audio CDs and store them on the hard disk in a variety of formats. The PS3 can also transfer music to the hard disk using a burned CD or DVD, a USB memory key, a flash memory card, or a Sony PlayStation Portable, capabilities that the Xbox 360 lacks. The PS3 and Xbox 360 can also play movies in the newest fashions. The PS3 serves as a Blu-ray disc player and the Xbox 360 can play HD DVD's if you purchase the required cord. Playback is smooth and images are sharp for both, but I'd have to say the PS3 is the better movie option only because it doesn't require any additional purchases like the Xbox. The Xbox 360 and PS3 are both extraordinary systems and blow all other competitors out of the water. While they are both outstanding, I believe the Xbox 360 is slightly better mainly due to price. The decision truly depends on the consumer and neither option is a bad one.
