Comparing A Cell To A Car
What I am comparing the structure of a cell to is a car. The reason I choose to do a car is because it is very similar to the structure of a cell and because to me it was the most interesting choice to choose from. Another reason I choose to compare the cell to a car is because it seemed to be the easiest one for me to do as compared to a Hogwarts or a city. Doing a house or a prison would have also been fairly easy but they were already picked by the people at my table. That wars why I choose to compare the human cell to an automobile.
The Cell Membrane could be compared to something like the doors and windows of a car. The function of the cell membrane is to protect the inner parts of the cell from its surroundings. A Cell Membrane also works

The endoplasmic reticulum of a cell's main use is to make, package and distribute certain types of proteins. There are two distinct types of ER which are smooth and rough. Smooth ER works to create and store lipids while the rough ER works to package proteins. Endoplasmic Reticulum is like the gas tank of a car because it helps to store and distribute gasoline to the engine of the car. The Golgi Apparatus can be compared to something like a car filter. The main purpose of the Golgi Apparatus is to take in certain productions from the rough endoplasmic reticulum and checks to make sure that none of the chemicals are in their wrong place. If the Golgi apparatus does find something in the wrong place it will send it back the rough ER. A Golgi apparatus is like the filter of a car because like a filter it chooses which products can and can not pass through it which keeps the cell healthy much like how a car keeps dust and debris out of the …show more content…
The function of the mitochondria is to take in nutrients and break it down to turn it into energy for the cell. The mitochondria also play a big part in cellular respiration and help limit the amount of calcium in the cytosol. The mitochondria are like the battery of a car because like the mitochondria the battery provides energy for the car to make it run. Centrioles within the cell can be compared to the parts of a car engine. The function of centrioles is to help with cell division in animal cells. Centrioles are mainly made up of protein strands called microtubules. The centrioles found within a cell can be compared to the engine parts of a car because parts in an engine need to be changed periodically much like how centrioles help duplicate the cell. Lysosome within a cell can be compared to something like the exhaust of a car. The function of the lysosome is to digest and remove waste such as old organelles or food particles. Lysosome work when a part of the cell is damaged or there is a waste and it is moved to the lysosome where it is broken down and released through the cell membrane. Lysosome is like the exhaust of a car because like an exhaust lysosome help break down and eject harmful

The endomembrane system is made up of different membranes that are suspended in the cytoplasm within a cell. These membranes divide the cell into functional and structural compartments, or organelles. The endomembrane system has three major components; the plasma membrane, Golgi apparatus, and vesicles. The plasma membrane surrounds the outside of the cell. It is made up of a double layer of phospholipids and controls the movement of various substances into and out of the cell, both passively and actively. The plasma membrane separates the inside of the cell from the outside; it is consisted of a phospholipid bilayer. This bilayer is a double membrane made up of hydrophobic tails and a hydrophilic heads. The function of the Golgi apparatus is to modify, sort, and package proteins, lipids and other materials from the Cellular endoplasmic reticulum for storage within the Cell and for exporting to the exterior of the Cell. The vesicles are small compartments that are involved in the exporting and importing of material in, out, and within the cell.…

Mitochondria carry out critical steps in the extraction of energy from food, and the conversion of that “trapped” energy to a useful form. They are the cell’s “power plants.” Chloroplasts are organelles found in algae and in the green parts of plants. Chloroplasts have two membranes surrounding them, as well as an internal system of stacked membrane discs.…

Function: the phospholipid bilayer is selectively permeable and plays an important role in determining what molecules can enter or exit the cell, it also makes the membrane very fluid (fluid mosaic model) which is of use when the cell moves by cytoplasmic streaming or when ingesting a particle by endocytosis (or secreting wastes by exocytosis). It also plays a role in protecting the cell from the outer environment as it is a physical barrier.…

The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell it provides energy to the cell through respiration. The food that we eat is broken into simpler molecules like carbohydrates, fats and etc in our bodies. These are sent to the mitochondrion where they are further precessed to produce charged molecules that combine with oxygen and produce Adenosine TriPhosphate (ATP) molecules. This entire process is known as oxidative phosphorylation.Mitochondria also helps in the building of certain parts of the blood, and hormones like testosterone and estrogen.…

Mitochondria- Mitochondria are the energy factories of the cells. The energy currency for the work that animals must do is the energy-rich molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The ATP is produced in the mitochondria using energy stored in food. Just as the chloroplasts in plants act as sugar factories for the supply of ordered molecules to the plant, the mitochondria in animals and plants act to produce the ordered ATP molecules as the energy supply for the processes of life.…
