The use of Ethos in Brutus’s speech wasn’t a lot, the one bit he uses was” hear me for mine honor and have respect to mine honor that you may believe” in this he is saying that they need to listen to him and see him for the respect and honor that he has gained from them before he killed their beloved ruler. An example of Brutus’s use of logos is “Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves than that Caesar were dead to live all free men” although that is both pathos, logos , and a rhetorical question, it was a great use of the Logos type of sentence. Antony uses it when he is referring to the will left by Caesar to lure the crowd in so they will stay and listen more. “ but here’s a parchment with the Seal of Caesar… tis his will, let but the commons hear his testament, which , pardon me I do not mean to read.”, this is the part that wins them over into thinking that Brutus was the bad guy and a traitor to Rome.
In conclusion , Antony’s speech was more personal and more persuasive which made it relatable to the Romans. His speech being longer than Brutus’s made his memorable and Brutus’s easily forgettable. Antony worded his speech in a way the citizens can comprehend it better. At the beginning of his speech , he says” I came to bury Caesar, not to praise him” which is him saying that he didn’t want to try to persuade them into loving Caesar , but he lets them do that on their own, so they think they made the decision that Brutus is bad.
