Comparing Macbeth And Collaborative Leadership
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." -Hellen Keller

This is a perfect example of how collaborative leadership is most effective when implemented appropriately. Collaborative leadership works best when the people develope a relationship where they honor their collaborative leader. Authoritative leadership is less effective than collaborative leadership because fear and power create anarchy and dissent, while respect and decency create a harmonious society. This claim can be supported by Machiavelli, Plato, and Macbeth.

Collaborative leadership creates love and respect for the ruler, this is supported by Machiavelli and Macbeth. The people would rather follow a leader who is honored rather than a leader who is constantly …show more content…
Authoritative leadership can be faulty because fear and power out rule respect and decency towards the leader. In Macbeth, it is explained how it is safer to be feared than loved. This quote is stating how for a leader’s sanity, they should be feared by the people to be a better leader, than to be loved. Being feared is faulty because if a serious situation comes up, the people will be feared of the ruler and may not follow what he is saying. A leader should be loved for his people to listen to him. In the same way, Machiavelli shows how a leader can be hated by this quote, “Nevertheless a prince ought to inspire fear in such a way that, if he does not win love, he avoids hatred; because he can endure very well being feared whilst he is not hated…” This quote summarizes how a leader can be feared so much that he is hated. It creates an unbalanced society if a ruler is feared so much that they are hated. How will his people feel safe if he is nothing but feared? This claim can be supported by Machiavelli, Plato, and Macbeth. Today’s society, both authoritative and collaborative leadership need to be applied evenly effective to have a balanced society. In some countries, communism is a ,ajr political party and that definitely ties in with authoritative leaderships, authoritative leaders create anarchy. One a government is controlled by an anarchy it is feared by the people. Often in life, people would rather have respect and decency for their leader rather than be feared and hated. The people show more respect towards someone they have a better connection

    There are many reasons why I disagree with Machiavelli. First of all, it is better to be loved than feared. Sometimes being feared will help someone get what they want, but with fear, feelings of resentment and hate can be found. It will also nurture subversive thoughts of revenge and other malicious intent. Just like in the TV show Gossip Girl, the main characters Blair and Sarina go back and forth seeking revenge over each other because one has more than the other. In the article, “Leadership and the Fear Factor”, the authors state “Emotions like love and fear, trust and mistrust, can play a significant role in whether a leader gains followers.” This concludes that typically leaders or anyone in the society gain followers by having trust and love. On a more of personal relationship, I would rather be loved, because to have everyone show fear towards each other, would mean you have no intimate relations with anyone and that is not true living. Franklin P. Jones once said, “Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.” It is the most powerful feeling to feel loved. I…
